BCF is home to nineteen scholarship funds, five of which are new this year, including the Charles R. "Dick" Ward Scholarship, a $20,000 award designated for students graduating from Digital Harbor High School who participated in the Building STEPS program.
Inspirational speakers for the gathering of students, their families, and scholarship donors included BCF scholarship recipients Sarah Hermina, a rising sophomore and aspiring broadcast journalist at St. John's University (winner of the WJZ-TV Jerry Turner Broadcast Scholarship), and Jessica Hurtt (pictured left with proud father John Hurtt), a rising sophomore majoring in biology at Notre Dame of Maryland University (winner of the One Step Up College Scholarship and past recipient of the Davis Family Scholarship). Read Jessica's inspiring speech. Joining Hermina and Hurtt at the podium was a special guest speaker, former Ravens kicker Matt Stover, who spoke to BCF's scholars about hard work and integrity.
Awards from nineteen scholarship funds at BCF range from $500 to $20,000 each and go to students planning to pursue or currently pursuing higher education.
