Greetings!
Spring has finally sprung after a very difficult winter for so many areas. Can you believe it snowed in 49 of our 50 states. Only Hawaii escaped. And speaking of Hawaii, we welcome Koloa Rum Company as a WineWare customer with multiple locations using our web portal services. Oloha!
WineWare is quickly approaching having customers in all 50 states! We're really proud to serve the U.S. and Canada too.
We occasionally host technical work shops at our corporate headquarters in Paso Robles, CA and invite all CA customers but anyone with a current tech support contract can attend free. The next work shop (for SmartClub) in Paso is Wednesday, May 26th from 2 to 4pm. RSVP required.
But this year we're also holding a work shop in southern Oregon at the Medford Rouge Regency Inn on Monday July 12th for the POS software (in the morning), then a hosted lunch and the wine club software (in the afternoon). More details to follow in a SmartNews invitation.
Remember, all work shops are free to customers on tech support. |

Credit Card Compliance
At the risk of sounding like a broken record by bringing up the credit card compliance story again, it has to be said one more time because so many of you have not upgraded to be compliant.
There is a hard date of July 1st to be compliant. If you are using software that is not compliant you may be subject to a compliance fee on each transaction or even worse, your credit card processing company may elect to refuse to process your credit card transactions.
Here is an excerpt from a resent notice by Wells Fargo Merchant Services, "If your system is not compliant by May 1, 2010 (Mastercard date), you may be subject to a per transaction compliance fee by MasterCard. To avoid MasterCard compliance fees associated with these new procedures, these new specifications must be implemented on your POS system."
And, an excerpt from VSR Magazine, "Merchants using payment applications that are subject to PABP and PA-DSS, but do not comply with the standards, may find that processors will be unwilling to conduct business with them after the July 1 deadline."
If you have a current tech support contract the upgrade fees are minimal to protect your continued credit card processing. But your upgrade must be scheduled and the clock is ticking. So please contact us real soon to meet the requirements.
Thank you for being a loyal customer.

Supporting Windows 7
All WineWare Software products are now available for Windows 7 Pro 32 bit operating system (not 64 bit). You must have current versions of our products to use a Windows 7 computer. You must have PCCharge 5.8.3 or higher to use Windows 7.
We still advise waiting to move to Windows 7 until a major service pack is released (watch corporate America for their movement to W7). If you are purchasing a Windows 7 computer please take note of the operating system mentioned above. We can also provide you with these computers as we are an authorized Dell reseller and have very competitive pricing. |

Tech Tips
SmartClub: Did you know you can track your Will Calls or Pickup's electronically in SmartClub. There is even a button on the main screen for Update Collected (notice the icon with the pickup truck and a wine bottle in the back)? This feature has been in the product from the very beginning and now it has its own button on the main screen. When you enter this area, you'll see that every shipment is there from your 1st club. If you would like to clear all of these entries and begin marking the shipments electronically beginning with your next shipment, here is the procedure to clear all the entries: highlight one member in the list, then press control and the letter C (for clear) at the same time, then you will get a message, "Mark all transactions as collected", then choose Yes or No. There is also a predefined report called Will Call Collected (in your report generator).
If you have been marking your pickup's electronically and you want to print a report to show who has not collected (picked up), here is the report definition: using the report generator, select a new report, use the History Transactions table, select your clubs, fields to print should be Member Name, Tr. Collection Date (plus whatever else you want to print), sort by Member Name, then press the left Advanced Selection button and: select Tr. Collected date, then Date Range and enter the date range of your desired club runs, then the next line select AND, and select Tr. Collected Date, Equal To NO and run your report. Save it so you can run it in the future with new dates if you desire.
CRE: A question we get asked frequently is "how do I give a credit or a return?" If in the same day and you have not settled your PCCharge batch, simply locate the invoice (Options>1-Cashier>D-Recall Invoice> enter invoice number in Search Box at bottom>, hit Enter) and select Void Invoice ; this will reverse the transaction as well as the charge. When recalling an invoice you can only do three things: Void, Print or End Display If not the current day, Recall the invoice to check items on the invoice then create a new invoice and enter negative quantities to reverse the sale. Of course, you'll need the credit card number/expiration date to process the transaction
PCCharge: You can now upgrade and renew your PCCharge directly with WineWare Software. Verifone has elected to move this process to their resellers and you will get renewal notices directly from us. Call us for your upgrade now to be PCI compliant to process credit cards after July 1, 2010. |
