...as we prepare for 2010... in-TEN-tion
HAPPY NEW YEAR Soul Adventurers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As 2009 winds to a close, I am thrilled to look back upon fun times in Brazil, Costa Rica, Honduras, India, multiple places in the USA, and Taiwan. I rode a camel to my hotel one night in Jaipur, and laughed hysterically the whole way... coated my face in natural mud from rock shavings we mixed with a waterfall in Costa Rica... cycled at speeds of 30km+ through pitch black tunnels amongst towering marble walls in Taroko Gorge... a surreal reminder that it is in moments like this that we lose ourselves in the present... how can you possibly be thinking of anything else???!!! Our new year, 2010, holds within it an auspicious time to set in-TEN-tions... what is it that you want to create this year? ...If you can choose one place to travel this coming year, where is that for you? ...and how can Global Soul Adventures help you to get there? Let us know of your intentions, we'll share ours below, and from there, we can create more journeys to help you fulfill your travel dreams. Wishing you continued FUN, sunshine-filled, and soulFULL travels in the year ahead! Live it up TODAY, Kate LaCroix, Founder & Director The picture at the the top of the newsletter is of Victoria Falls from Zimbabwe, Africa... may it be an offering of cleansing and renewal for you in 2010! |

Something to play with... Happy Baby Pose (Ananda Balasana)
If you've watched a babies play, while they're on their backs, they often bend their lil' knees and grab onto the bottom of their feet... if you practice yoga regulary, you have most likely become accustomed to loving this pose. To dive in a little deeper, you can work on gravitating your elbows to the inside of your legs and placing them on your hamstrings while still holding your legs and feet from the back. This affords a "baby step" (no pun intended) towards bringing both feet behind your head for practicing yoga nidra. Be gentle with yourself as you pull down on your feet, and leverage your knees towards the ground... and if that feels good, head towards arms inside the legs... and from there, you can go for more depth in the asana (posture).... just be mindful of what your back, neck and other parts of your body are saying to you... and most importantly, be HAPPY.

Did you know?... Monthly Travel Tip: Spontaneity
One of the most beautiful things that can happen in our travel journeys are those moments that offer us the chance to embark on something completely spontaneous. You may find yourself meeting another person in a cafe who suggests a different path, a bus station that lures you to a different destination, or simply be called to something completely random while wandering. At the least suspecting moment your intuition may overwhelm you with opportunities you would have never sought out on your own. So what should you do in this moment? Pause and take a moment to check with your gut instinct... if it gave you an excited rise when presented with the alteration in plans, then maybe consider honoring that.
This picture is from Baņos, Ecuador... a place that I didn't even realize existed until the night before I arrived... I met a couple of ladies traveling that way, and next thing I knew I was horseback riding up this valley along the side of the mountain... incredible!
