A Unique Approach to Luxury Travel

flower offering Dear Soul Adventurers,

As we enjoy this seasonal transition, I write to you after several weeks of traveling around India.  As I traveled through the colorful, chaotic regions that comprise this unique land, I found myself contemplating how we individually define "luxury", when it comes to travel.  In India, A/C (air conditioned) sleep cars on a train, Western toilets, and a shower with hot water easily fall into the "luxury" category.

What do you consider to be "luxury" travel?  At Global Soul Adventures, we consider this to be something beyond your common 5-Star resort... which is why we consistently seek to create our retreats in unique places around the globe that offer you the 5-star style and more environmentally conscious efforts, without being mass reproduced (for example, we do not use chain hotels.)  The greatest thing you can enjoy on any vacation (especially an eco-adventure and yoga retreat) is a beautiful, and exceptionally comfortable place to stay, with a gorgeous space to practice yoga, phenomenal service, an ideal location, and something special you would be highly unlikely to find elsewhere.

As you consider our upcoming adventures, we are creatively offering you luxury in each... an exceptionally restored eco-hacienda that has been within the same family for over 100 years, unique houses that have been built in the trees bordering sandy white beaches along the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world (HONDURAS); a more hidden spot tucked into the rice terraces designed from all local materials, an island cliff spot (BALI); and a mountain spa retreat tucked away in the tablelands (AUSTRALIA.)

We would love to have you immerse yourself into these places of conscious luxury with us!

Our Soul Adventures.... 3 trips we currently offer you AT COST!
Whether you are feeling called to the Mayan Ruins, Caribbean beaches and world's 2nd largest barrier reef (HONDURAS;) the rice terraces, volcanoes, monkey forest, and island surf breaks of Nusa Lembongan (BALI;) or the mountain spa retreat in Queensland (AUSTRALIA,) we seek to facilitate an exploration of joy, relaxation, introspection, adventure, culture, community and beyond!

Copan Ruínas & Roatan Island, HONDURAS
with Yoga Instructor Laura Downing, of San Diego, CA
Spend your first 4 nights in an exceptionally beautiful, eco-friendly restored, family Hacienda, with yoga practices overlooking the Mayan Ruins across the river valley, time with a local Shaman, and exquisitely delicious 4-course cuisine... followed by your next 4 nights beach side, in a lovely resort home tucked in the trees at shore's edge - we will practice yoga overlooking the Caribbean Sea.  Side adventures will include natural hot springs, hiking, kayaking, snorkeling, horseback riding, and more.

Ubud & Nusa Lembongan, BALI  - Indonesia
with Yoga Instructor Jo Tastula, of Venice Beach, CA / Freemantle, W.A.
There is a very good reason why everyone always raves about Bali...  with its artistic heart residing in the village of Ubud... hand-made offerings line the streets, monkeys fill the forest, and rice terraces highlight just about every part of the local landscape... we will spend our first 4 nights here, followed by 3 more nights on the island of Nusa Lembongan, overlooking turquoise blue paradise... with opportunities to explore an off-shore surf break, snorkeling, or simply sunbathe at your leisure.

Mountains of Queensland, AUSTRALIA
with Yoga Instructor Jo Tastula, of Venice Beach, CA / Freemantle, W.A.
Tucked high up in the mountains, where the Atherton Tablelands meet the Daintree; where you can retreat into eco-friendly timber cabins; where you are only a 25 minute drive from Port Douglas, and access to the Great Barrier Reef, awaits the ultimate 4-day, 3-night mountain spa retreat getaway.  Indulge on scrumptious foods made by our retreat chef and pamper yourself with massages and other spa sessions!

On each of the above mentioned journeys, you will have the opportunity to relax, sleep and unwind, or take to daily adventures - your choice!  Each of these journeys will offer at least two yoga practices each day and the opportunity to select your eco-adventures.  The bios for each of our fantastic yoga instructors can be found on the respective itineraries, and Kate (Global Soul Adventure's founder) will be with us to facilitate all of the trip logistics, general guiding and coordination with local guides for anything else you may seek to do during your retreat.  The yoga style is Vinyasa Flow, and is open to all levels.

Something to play with...  Relaxing your shoulders
When we move through our asanas (poses) in our yoga practice, and through our daily life, it is quite often that we hold tension in our shoulders.  It sometimes is not as easily recognized by us, but moreso by those teaching / helping us.  As you move through your practice this month, take note of where you seem to hold tension.... is it in your shoulders?  Here is an asana to play with...

Virabadrasana II (Warrior II Pose)
Quite possibly the greatest shoulder relaxer I have ever encountered (from yoga instructor Hala Khouri, in Venice Beach, CA) is found in one of our most frequented asanas, Virabadrasana II (Warrior II.)  As you settle into Warrior II, allow yourself to turn your palms to face up (v. down).... allow your arms to become relaxed, so that you find a buoyancy in them as they extend away from your body.  From here, you can play with turning your palms back to a downward facing position... and as you do, notice how much more relaxed your shoulders may be.  I sometimes like to play with the vision of catching feathers or bubbles in my palms when they are facing up, so that I know I am keeping my arms softer and more receptive.

Did you know?... GSA Monthly Travel Tip

Are you ever wondering whether the airfare you are looking to pay is high, low, or average?  If you travel on a regular basis, then you may have an idea of what usual airfares run between destinations... however if you are traveling a new route, or traveling with less frequency, here are some tips to help you out:

1) You can visit FareCompare.com to check the fare trend on your chosen route

2) Consult multiple sites for the same flight... it may only save you $5 in the end, but that will at least cover the purchase of your new bottle of water on the other side of security!

3) Consider booking your ticket for a Wednesday, when fares tend to be the lowest.  Tuesdays and Saturdays are the next best days to research after Wednesday.

4) Fly the local airlines once you reach your primary destination (i.e., the main country you are visiting)... for example, once you reach the USA: consider Southwest, Frontier.... in India: consider Jet Airways, Kingfisher....  in Brazil:  consider GOL, WebJet, etc...

May you "spread your wings" and FLY!
