 We extend our greetings to you - the Christmas season is here, the New Year is fast approaching and winter weather has arrived in southern New England. The photo to the left reminds us that warm weather will eventually be back!
Since this will be our last newsletter in 2008 we would like to give you some information at the end of this newsletter about Somma services and products available to help you start the New Year right.

We want to share with you some images of our Tom Minuto. The Somma Tool team did endurance racing again this year.
On his second attempt, Tom Minuto's team, Rhinoceros Racing, won it's class and came in 5th overall in the twenty four hours of the Nelson Ledges Endurance Race in Warren, Ohio.
It is worthy to note that in both 2007 and 2008, Tom's car suffered zero mechanical failures in forty-eight hours of racing. This is a good thing because Tom is VP of Operations at Somma Tool Company overseeing all the plant and equipment needs here! |

Cut Off Blades: T type, Hollow Ground, Carbide Tipped, Solid Carbide, Acme B Type 7 degree beveled, I-Beam style. Various materials too: M2, T15PM, Cobalt, M4PM, and Carbide .
Flexi-Grip Collets: We have them - they are no longer hard to find: C3, C4, C6, C8 drill collets and STC4 tap collets.
Standard Dovetail Blanks: standard size blanks in M2, M42, T15PM, and 76PM as well as blanks made of alloy steel and 4140 steel for carbide tipping.
Special Dovetail Blanks: we quote custom made blanks to your specifications daily, and have the capacity to make them promptly and reasonably priced.
Dovetail Sharpening Fixtures: another new Somma product available this year, which can be used in both vertical and horizontal positions for dovetails up to 1-1/4".
Broach Tools and Holders: We have 13 catalog pages of broach tool holders for use on CNC, Multi-Spindle, Brown & Sharpe, and Davenport machines. New this year were holders with metric shanks, Collet Chuck Style Holders, CNC- Adjustment Free Internal Holders, Driven Rotating Broach Holders, and a Broach Centering Fixture.
We also can quote specials broaches such as Double D, Double Hex, Flat, Spline, Keyway, Knurl, and Involute Spline. Send us your print and we'll quote you promptly or advise you that your part can not be broached.
Resharpenable Quick Change Tooling Systems: Our patented "RQC" holders were designed by Herman Somma to hold inserts that can be sharpened by grinding material from their top surface. This system enables the insert to be re-used without resetting to center, or to diameter, or laterally, saving much time and money. Somma is unique in that we sell either the finished to-print inserts or the insert blanks, whichever the customer prefers. The holders can be used on Multi-Spindle, CNC, Brown & Sharpe, and Davenport machines.
Combination Bar Puller Cut Off Tool for CNC: Another new Somma product in 2008. This unit saves a turret position and reduces cycle time.
