From the Desk of:
Col. Francisco Rentas, Director, ASBPO
As the Armed Services Blood Program continues to move forward with our mission, we are continually looking for new ways to share news, stories, photos and more with our loyal donors, volunteers and supporters. In this new and improved Focal Point, we announce the launch of our very own Pinterest page, share how one civilian reached a milestone donation at the Keesler Blood Donor Center, and wish all fathers a very happy Father's Day! We also feature a small military community in Germany who came together to save lives.
The summer months are here and we know that summer schedules are busy; but the need for blood does not stop as the months get warmer. Please remember, just one hour of your time can save up to three of your brothers and sisters in arms.
Warm regards, COL Francisco Rentas |

No Uniform Required The ASBP Focal Point civilian hero of the month
Forty-eight pints equals six gallons. That may seem like a lot, but that is what one very special donor did at Keesler Air Force Base for the Armed Services Blood Program. David "Jake" Jacobsen recently fulfilled his 48th pint donation, reaching the awe-inspiring six-gallon mark.
"I have been an avid blood donor at Keesler since 1994 when we were on green portable cots at the Keesler Fire Department," said Jacobsen. "I am wearing this [donate blood] shirt for the first time today in honor of the Keesler Blood Donor Center and the lives they save."

Checkin' in with the:
ASBBC-E, Landstuhl, Germany
The words U.S. Army Garrison, Hohenfels, Germany, can mean many different things to different people. For those who have trained there, it might be a reminder of freezing in the bitter cold during a field training exercise. For those who have lived there, it might bring back memories of a small, friendly, tight-knit community. But for those who attended the most recent Armed Services Blood Program and Department of Defense Bone Marrow Program registration drive at the garrison, it may inspire thoughts of a community banding together to save lives.
