MaasASBPO NCOIC Takes Opportunity to Spread the Word

SFC Peter Maas, NCOIC of Operations at ASBPO responded to a recent request for holiday gift donations by suggesting an additional way to give during the holiday season. Recently featured in our last installment of the ad campaign What Makes You Think It's Not About You?, SFC Maas spread the word about the benefits of blood donations to the ASBP. The call went out to his colleagues within the Office of the Surgeon General in hopes to increase blood donation levels, that usually drop during the holiday season. A big thanks to SFC Maas for passing the word along.

As part of this year's holiday activities, Robertson Blood Center (RBC) Director LTC(P) Fryar and his wife decided to
hold a door-decorating contest. Many participated and decorated their own door, but Mrs. Archine Perry, Medical Technologist at RBC, had another idea. In hopes to lift the spirits of Mrs. Yung Engle, she decorated Mrs. Engle's door. Mrs. Engle has been an employee of the RBC for over 20 years and is spending her first holiday season alone after her husband's death early this year. "She has prepared entire lunches for Soldiers going away and presented generations of directors and many Soldiers with flowers," explains Perry Jefferies, RBC Blood Donor Recruiter. To show Mrs. Engle their gratitude for all she does and to let her know she is not alone this holiday season, Mrs. Perry decorated her door with a big ASBP blood drop and had everyone sign it to be a Christmas card for Mrs. Engle.
