Last Legs at RDS ART FAIR
The RDS art fair was an enjoyable, life affirming and stimulating experience. It's a pity that standing for so long had a grueling effect on my body! This nice man holding me up at the end of the four days is called Liam and is back in Ireland for a few weeks having spent forty years in Australia. He was assisting my neighbour Tony McGrath and the pair were invaluably helpful over the long days and short nights of the Fair.

Greetings! The entries for my Make your Best Pitch for my Painting are rolling in... by email, by phone and old-fashioned and reliable, the postal service. You can read a few excerpts from three early birds below...You have until January 31, 2009 to enter.
My 2010 calendar has been a great success. Every day there is excitement with the arrival of more orders in the post, or an electronic request arriving via Paypal, sometimes from far flung places. To date calendars have been sent to 14 different countries and to all five continents. I heard on Monday that Derek Mooney was missing his calendar courtesy of the Bank of Ireland, and I sent one in to him first thing Tuesday morning.
There are still a few left, and may I ask that if you plan to order my 2010 Calendar, can you please do so straight away in order to receive it before Christmas? I am planning to hang up my keyboard soon for some well earned rest, and will send out the last of them early next week. If there are any left after that, they will be sent out at the end of December. You can order by phone 012810839, email, buy now on my website or click on the link below.
Many thanks for your continued interest and support for my work

Pitch for a Painting
Make the best pitch and win the painting of your choice as your prize....You may enter by writing, emailing, recording or even phoning in your pitch...
From John....
I have never met you before, but your style is so personable, that I
feel as if I have. .... I am from Grand Rapids, Michigan and had been
to Ireland on vacation on two separate occasions and fell in love with
it......I wake up missing Ireland and wish I were still there... You
ask which painting would I be biting my toenails to have? Well let me
tell you, I wish I was flexible enough to reach my toenails, but if I
could, I would be biting them for The Station House, Six Mile Point,
South. This particular piece brings back fond memories of my DART
rides along the coast.....I love the texture of a painting and the
smell of the paint and the part that allows you to use more of your
imagination that a photo just doesn't. I have a blank spot on my
bedroom wall for the beautiful painting of The Station House that would
fill the hole in my heart for Ireland. It would be nice to wake up in
the morning to take a look at and know that I'm not dreaming.
From Nóirín...
'Triple Aqua' draws me into
a sliding strangeness. My eye lingers on the softness of pink on the left that slips
into white water leading me towards the centre of the picture, but no, not yet...
I am drawn backwards to the inky grasses and such greenness and - I can't help
smiling now as I discover brown grasses and more green and trees, so lovely, my
eye is darting in amazement from tree lines to green to brown and again into
pink depths and........
From Brenda...

I like this painting because of the
contrast between the solid of the path and the fluidity of the plants. It has
for me a transporting quality that makes me feel I am standing there, enjoying
the colours, the sounds and the smells. It also has a feeling of home. Very
much a home bird that really speaks to me. Now, this is the corny bit...
