Éamon de Buitleir stands on a table on Opening Night
Business was brisk at the sales desk in the Signal Art Centre when a space had to be cleared to allow the legendary broadcaster and naturalist Éamon de Buitléir clamber up to address the enormous crowd which attended the launch of the exhibition in the Signal Arts centre on March 7th last.  Describing her paintings as "music" de Buitléir paid tribute to the artist by taking out his harmonica and playing the Donegal tune, An Bótharín Buí, to the delight of all assembled.

Greetings!

Thank you for your support of my recent exhibition.. Whether you were able to come to the Opening night, or if you dropped in later in the week and signed the comments book, or if you phoned, emailed or sent me a card in the post, I really appreciate your effort and also  your encouragement.

There was a lovely vibe throughout the fortnight of exhibition, and on the night of the reception there was a fantastic turnout.  I even sold half the paintings...which was a surprise. Having gone on so much about how please I am at the prospect of making a living as an artist, and thanking you for making me "the exception to the rule", I am surprised how surprised I am to have sold so many. I really did see it as a great success when I saw you all turning up, and for me that will always be the best bit.

I have updated my website and put some of Kate (Phelan) Buckley's pics up and they look great. Kate also started recording Éamon de Buitleir on video, and that's there too...Click the link on the left to get straight to that bit of my website.
So go do have a look,
with best wishes

About the Wine...
Lots of you commented on how nice the wine was..

While I did really want to offer you nice wine (because I like nice wine myself), and I did taste lots and lots and lots of wine to find the right ones, it all became rather a blur.

And so, in desperation, I stumbled into O'Brien's in Greystones, and Anthony, the Manager, pointed me in the right direction. In addition, the morning after the Opening he rescued me by changing my flat tyre in the pouring rain. So many thanks to Anthony.
