My Current Favourite...
This is a painting I have been working on for almost three years. I am not given to this kind of dedication, but for this canvas I made an exception. It's big... four feet wide... I started it in October, 2005, working b eside my pond. At that time of year, the lilies are really beautiful. I've built up layers and layers of texture with acrylic paint. The surface of this painting contains a variety of wonderful textures. After all this time. it's been a pleasure to complete it in time for Dungarvan.

Greetings!
It's been a wild, wet summer, and I have been painting like a demon. This photo shows me setting up to paint on a quayside, that one hot afternoon, was it last May? I was waiting to catch a boat, and while the sun shone, I didn't waste a minute..
I am currently wrapping up my next exhibition (see below for more details). It will be my third solo exhibition in 18 months, so the pace has been challenging.
However, I have discovered that I can happily paint in the rain, and I have been doing this all over the country in recent weeks... I've been in wetted in Wicklow (of course), Wexford (at the big Paint Out as part of Art in the Open Festival), west Clare, and most recently over this last weekend in Bonmahon, Co. Waterford. I can paint quite happily in the rain, and when the sun comes out, it is magic. In order to cope with the monsoon, I have had to develop some unusual strategies...As you'd might expect, I am nothing if not resourceful!
So, during the coming weeks, please do take a peek, visit the show, or view it via my website when you can.
Best wishes,
Mary Duffy
