MESSAGES ~ Love, Hope and Healing in Spirit

Dear Friends,

After returning from a bit of a whirlwind trip to New York filled with book signings, events, and Medium Mondays for Infinite Quest, I'm frantically unpacking and then repacking for Colorado.  (Maybe I should just stay packed!)

In the Boulder and Denver areas, I'll be doing three book signings, an Evening of Spirit Communication at For Heaven's Sake, and a Spirit Touch Circle in a tavern room (I'm not kidding) with a great view of the Rockies.

At each book signing and event and on Facebook, I've appreciated hearing that I'm Not Dead, I'm Different, is helping and inspiring those who read it.  Readers are buying multiple copies to share. (One man purchased more than 20 for his friends.)  People have expressed an interest in other ways to get the word out about the book.  Here are a few ways that you can help, too:

  1.  If you purchased the book on Amazon.com or BarnesandNoble.com, write a review.  People read reviews (really they do) when deciding whether to make a purchase.
  2. Share the book with thousands of people (without spending a dime) by asking your local library to carry the book.  Many libraries only order books by request (especially books that are of special interest).
  3. Post information about I'm Not Dead, I'm Different on your Facebook page.  (My assistant Claire can provide you with a graphic of the book's cover that you can use.)
  4. If you're a member of a book club, chat group or grief support group, suggest this title for the group to read.  A free Reader's Guide is available at HollisterRand.com and ReadingGroupGuides.com.
  5. Suggest to a local bookstore (independent and metaphysical, as well) that they consider hosting an event and book signing.  Store owners can email [email protected] to organize an event.

To all of you who have expressed your appreciation for the book, I thank you in return for letting me know that my personal journey and the messages from the young have made a difference to you.

With Father's Day fast approaching, I would like to share an encounter a young man had with his four fathers in spirit in "Did You Say Forefathers or Four Fathers?"

May the fathers we know and love, and the "fathers" who stepped in to fill the empty places in our hearts, be blessed by our love in return,

Hollister Rand

Did You Say Forefathers or Four Fathers?

An Excerpt from I'm Not Dead, I'm Different

by Hollister Rand

I'm Not Dead, I'm Different

After years of talking with communicative kids in spirit, it no longer surprises me that kids here on earth wish to communicate with loved ones in spirit.  These days, kids are simply inclined to keep in touch.

With such increasing interest in spirit communication, I wasn't phased when a member of this very communicative generation set up a meeting with me.  I made no assumptions about why, but was stunned when the first thing that popped out of my mouth was "You have four fathers."  I was sure that I had just made an embarrassing faux pas.

"Yes, I do," the 23-year-old named Walter replied.  My sense of relief was brief because the four male figures in spirit were crowding in on me, talking at the same time.  It was a confusing melee until they separated themselves by distinguishing characteristics.  One was extremely tall, one was smoking a joint, one was bald and another spoke German.

The German man named Gunther was the first to communicate.  He was Walter's birth father and he had died in a skiing accident before Walter was born.  He and Walter's mother had had a fling when she spent the summer in Switzerland on a work-study program.  They hadn't gotten married.

The extremely tall man was Walter's grandfather.  When Walter's mother returned home unwed and pregnant, her father became a stand in for Walter's birth father.  Walter called him, "Big Daddy."

The joint smoking dude was his mother's first husband, Walter's stepfather.  This dude had gotten arrested for dealing pot and died in prison.

The bald man was an old family friend who was Walter's godfather.  He had carefully overseen and financed Walter's education.  He passed suddenly with a heart attack just two weeks before Walter came to see me.

Each of these men considered himself Walter's father.  Each expressed a continuing interest in his life.  Each of these men made it clear that they are aware of each other in spirit and the part they play in Walter's life.  Two are related to Walter by blood, one by marriage and the other by commitment.

As Walter was leaving that day, he thanked me.  "Today heaven gave me back my fathers," he said with a smile.  "All four of them."

Heaven gives back our fathers, our mothers, our children, our sisters and brothers, those we know and those we don't.  In heaven, family is defined by more than bloodlines.  Family is defined by love lines, too.
