American Jobs Act Introduced

President Obama has introduced the American Jobs Act which was just received by Congress today. State Superintendent Torlakson estimates that California could receive $3.1 billion to prevent layoffs of an estimated 30,000 education jobs. Funding is also set aside to renovate K-12 public school facilities and build or update science and computer labs. California's estimated share by Superintendent Torlakson's office is $2.8 billion. No bill language is currently available. Congressman George Miller is calling for the House Education and Workforce Committee to commence with hearings.
