American Jobs Act Introduced by Sherry Skelly Griffith, ACSA Governmental Relations
President Obama has introduced the American Jobs Act which was just received by Congress today. State Superintendent Torlakson estimates that California could receive $3.1 billion to prevent layoffs of an estimated 30,000 education jobs. Funding is also set aside to renovate K-12 public school facilities and build or update science and computer labs. California's estimated share by Superintendent Torlakson's office is $2.8 billion. No bill language is currently available. Congressman George Miller is calling for the House Education and Workforce Committee to commence with hearings. As we learn more we will update you.
