CalSTRS Recommends Legislature Adopt Stronger Pension Spiking Reforms

Trustees urge amendments to SB 27 to curb pension spiking

The Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) and the Small School Districts'' Association (SSDA) have expressed concerns with the provisions of SB 27 that would affect current CalSTRS members. ACSA and SSDA believe the bill language in SB 27 raises significant legal issues. CalSTRS staff presented their analysis and recommendations to the CalSTRS Board earlier this morning and the full board adopted a formal position on the measure.  Click here to review a news release announcing the CalSTRS board recommended amendments.  These recommendations will hopefully get Senator Joe Simitian, the author, to consider modifying the bill on the Assembly side of the legislature where it will get its next policy hearing in June.
