Welcome to Downtown Parsons Inc

Greetings!

Greetings!

Is it time for a technical upgrade on Main Street?   We are in the midst of a technical revolution that is sweeping across the planet. Is Main Street doing enough to keep up?

Social Media networks like Facebook and Twitter are dominating news stories and headlines. With over 500 million users, Facebook is a giant in the social media world.  Facebook allows users to make connections with other users who share common interests.  The platform continues to get larger by the day, and this widespread usage makes it an ideal channel for small businesses looking to promote themselves. Facebook has a number of features that allow professionals to reach out to their target audience, promote their business, and even reach out to contacts on other social networks.

Effectively using social media is not a magic bullet to business success.  But the concept of social media can help to increase the message that your business is trying to send out to the immediate community.

If your business would like help in setting up a social media presence, please feel free to call my office 421-4760 and I will set up a time to help you get started! You can also send me an email at dtparsons@cableone.net.

Thank you,

10 Steps to Increase Social Media Presence

 social media

1.  Create a business page!  You may already have a personal Facebook page, but did you know you can create one specifically for your business?   Creating a business page is similar to creating a personal page in Facebook. Design a nice logo and use it for your business page picture.

2.  Build a network. Before you start implementing any of the techniques discussed here, you need to develop a network of friends. To do that, join a few groups that are related to your business and a few groups that you are passionate about.

3. Update your status every day.
Log in every day and update your status.  It only takes a minute or two to jot down specials you may be offering or new products or services you are trying to promote.  Your aim is to draw people's attention to your messages so that they would click on your profile to know more about your business.

4. Wish birthday wishes everyday.
It may seem a bit of a strange idea for a business to send out birthday greetings, but as our society of consumers become more "experience" motivated, it will be a worthwhile venture.  Social Media networks like Facebook will show upcoming birthdays of everyone in your network. After you have put in your daily update, send out some birthday greetings to those lucky few.  Let them know that if they come in today, you will give them a 10% Birthday Discount or come up with other fun specials for their special day.  It will add that experience that they wont be able to get anywhere else!

5. Use promotional photos of your business.  Social Media networks allow you to upload as many photos as you like.  Post photos that showcase your business.  Find out if any of your customer network would be willing to be in a photo.  Adding "tags" to photos will allow others outside of your network the chance to learn more about you!

6.  Keep it professional!  Remember that if you have set up a business page, it should reflect the same concept of your physical location.  Keep personal information about yourself to a minimum.

7. Announce Events. Are you having a great "One Day Only Sale" or maybe you are hosting a "Main Street Mingle"?  Use Social Media to announce your events.  Announced events gives the people in your network time to plan.

8.  Encourage customer feedback.  Use Social Media as a forum for your customers.  Allow them to post their thoughts about your products and services.  Allowing them this opportunity will be a great outreach to your network.  It will also help you identify any problems and quickly solve them.  Your network will see that you care about the experience that every customer has!

9. Post comments on popular groups.
Is there a group on Facebook or Twitter that is about the same type of business you are involved in?  Make sure to regularly visit popular groups that you have joined and post comments. Just like blog comments or forum posting, comments on popular groups will attract attention to your name and profile. Add something valuable or post a link that adds value to the topic under discussions.

10.  Do not use Social Media as your only outlet for information.  There are many ideas floating around that our current system of media is a dying breed.  Newspaper, radio and TV advertising is not dying, it is evolving.  It is up to you to find the perfect mix of classic media and social media to effectively market your business.

Moonlight Madness

Wow! I would like to start by thanking everyone that took part in Moonlight Madness. It was nice to see the community come together and create such a wonderful event. I have heard from many people in community saying that it was a lot of fun and when do you plan on doing this again.
  Karen Haynes
from Upscale Country did a wonderful job putting Moonlight Madness together. She was successful in pulling together different businesses to take part in the event, having Commercial Bank tailgate downtown for the PHS students, and bringing families downtown to shop local.
