Greetings!

With this posting, I will be concluding my term as Director of Education for Justice.  Over the past five years, I have had the joy and privilege of providing you with resources to support your own work and ministry in the field of social justice and Catholic social teaching.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your membership and the opportunity to serve you and engage in work that I have absolutely loved.

Over the past five years, the membership of Education for Justice has more than doubled, we have integrated new and interactive technologies and have been nationally recognized as an award winning resource.  We hope you will continue to journey with Education for Justice in the future.  We ask for your patience during the transition ahead.

We have a new lineup of resources to support your ministry of faith and justice.  Please see our list at the left.

Peace,
Sr. Katherine Feely, SND

Wisconsin Uprising, Unions & Catholic Social Teaching
State House Rights of Workers
The rights of workers and especially the right to unions and collective bargaining have been in the news during the first part of 2011.  In Wisconsin and other states, the rights of collective bargaining for public employees have been challenged.  Since the first Catholic social teaching encyclical in 1891, the Church has been clear on the rights of workers.  This resource highlights the current situation in Wisconsin and the connection to Catholic social teaching on the rights of unions.

Border The Option for the Poor & Vocation
Fr. Peter Hinde, O.Carm has lived out the Church's call to make a preferential option for the poor.  In this interview, learn about the early influences and encounters that led not only to his conversion but to his commitment to love and justice in a radical way.

This module includes four videos which can be viewed individually or all together.  Discussion questions are included as an attachment and a complete transcript of the interview is also available for planning or discussion, or reflection purposes.

Film & CST - "True Grit"
TrueGrit Catholic Social Teaching meets a Western
"True Grit" is a classic Western which portrays a very narrow understanding of justice and can provide the context for a rich conversation. This remake by the Coen Brothers reinvigorates the genre. This film discussion guide includes a synopsis, themes to engage, connections to CST principles, discussion questions and lyrics to the soundtrack for reflection and discussion.
