A Prayer Reflection for Mine Workers

Mine Shaft 33 Miners Trapped Alive
Thirty-Three mine workers in Chile are currently trapped alive 2,200 feet underground. It could be more than a month before they are rescued. Recent tragedies in the U.S. and elsewhere have highlighted the danger of mining.

Education for Justice has prepared a prayer and reflection resource to pray, especially this labor day, for all those who work in the mining or extractive industries and to pray especially for the families affected by this recent tragedy.

International Day for the Preservation of Ozone Layer
September 16, 2010
In his "World Day of Peace Message 2010," Pope Benedict asserted, "... it is imperative that humankind renew and strengthen "that covenant between human beings and the environment, which should mirror the creative love of God, from whom we come and towards whom we are journeying."

While the international community has taken some important steps in working towards greater protection of the ozone layer, there is still much more to be done.  Use this two-page resource with background, links and a prayer to mark this day.
