December 1, 2008 |

Dear Education for Justice Members,
We begin the Advent journey in the midst of a time of darkness and ask for the grace to enter into this sacred season with mindfulness and focus. Each week of Advent we will send a listing of resources for the week. The resources specific to Week One are below. Search the web site for many more resources too.
Wishing you a Blessed Advent, The Education for Justice Team |
Advent Prayer
Slow us down, O Lord, this Advent, So we may understand the darkness we are in, the darkness of fear that comes with wanting more, And the fear of having less.
Grant us the light of transformation, As we wait for your true abundance-- The love of the Incarnation, A love that brings us true dignity and security, A love that embraces all, that enriches all, That calls us all to share justly and celebrate joyfully.

Lectionary Reflection: Second Sunday of Advent
|
|
The readings for the Second Sunday of Advent call us to listen more deeply for the voice of God and to hear those voices crying out. The
scriptures als o remind us to speak up and to proclaim the message of God. The
images of the scriptures are images of hope and possibility. The rough way can
be made straight. God will come with
power. We can expect a new heaven and
new earth "where righteous dwells."
Baptism, repentance and all kinds of renewal are possible. Justice can replace injustice; solidarity can
replace isolation; nonviolence can replace violence; compassion can replace
selfishness. Read more. Go to Lectionary Reflection
