April is Safe Digging Month!

plantingDon't dig into trouble this spring, always call 811 before you dig. In a national effort to increase awareness about dig safety and the free 811 utility locating service, Washington has declared April as Safe Digging Month.

Protect underground pipes and utility lines by calling 811 to request an underground utility locate at least two days before you begin digging.Once the lines have been marked, use a handtool and dig cautiously around areas where underground utilities are buried.

The commission has created a video series to increase safe digging awareness. Watch the videos on the commission's YouTube channel.

Is That Transportation Company Permitted? Find Out Now!
The commission has a new permit Web page that displays real-time information about transportation companies regulated by the UTC. This new Web page provides a listing of all carriers with a current permit and those carriers whose permits have been suspended. It does not show carriers whose permits have been cancelled. If a carrier does not show up on the list, they do not have an active or suspended permit.

Look up moving companies, airporters, charter buses, and other regulated transportation companies at www.utc.wa.gov/permits.

If you suspect a company is operating without a permit, report it to the commission.
