Madera County truly shines this magical time of year! With holiday parades, Christmas Tree Lightings and a myriad of other special events, this is a perfect time for a getaway to California's Gateway to Yosemite.

Madera Tractor Parade of Lights
Annual event lights up the night

The Annual Madera Tractor Parade of Lights is a popular, long-running event that celebrates the agricultural background that is integral to the community along with the Christmas spirit of Madera. The result is a fun event for children and the young at heart.
 
Numerous tractors, harvesters and other farm implements as well as cars, trucks, fire engines and more, make their way down Yosemite Avenue set aglow with dazzling Christmas lights.
 
In addition to the parade, the Candlelight Wine Stroll introduces guests to the local businesses lining Madera's downtown as and to the local wineries pouring in the businesses.
 
The parade kicks off at 6 pm on Thursday, December 1.
 
Murder Mystery Dinner Dec. 3
Evening of Whodunit in YLP

The Blue Heron Lounge in Yosemite Lakes Park is holding their first ever Murder Mystery Dinner Saturday, December 3.

Guests will be left guessing until the very end as to just who committed the heinous act, while enjoying a gourmet meal prepared by Chef Christian.

Bass Lake Christmas Tree Lighting
The businesses of Bass Lake will be showing off their Holiday Spirit at the 20th annual Tree Lighting and Festival of Lights.

Not only will they be illuminating the massive tree with thousands of twinkling Christmas lights, but local residents and businesses will parade through The Pines Village in various vehicles decked out in lights as well.

There will be photos with Santa, a raffle with all sorts of great prizes, Christmas caroling and much more.

The event starts at 5:30 on Friday, November 25, the day after Thanksgiving. For more information, call The Pines Resort at 800-350-7463.

A long-running tradition continues December 3 as the Oakhurst Christmas Tree Lighting once again draws locals and visitors alike.

The annual event features a massive tree placed at the intersection of Highway 41 and Road 426, overlooking the famous Talking Bear in front of Century 21 Realty. In addition to the giant tree turned Christmas decoration, there are several more trees decorated by local school children.

There will be songs, food, games and a visit from Santa Claus himself.

Chowchilla ushers in Christmas

Chowchilla is a community of long-running traditions, and the annual Christmas Tree Lighting is one of them.

The Lions invite locals and visitors alike to the 43rd annual Christmas Tree Lighting, taking place Saturday December 3.

The tree, located at Robertson Boulevard and Front Street, will help make the start of the 2011 Christmas season official as it is lit brilliantly by the Lions and Chowchilla Parks & Community Services Department.

The Buckhorn Saloon in North Fork is a favorite spot for locals, and it promises that perfect bit of authentic experience for visitors traveling to the historic logging town.

Located in the exact center of California, North Fork is definitely in the middle of it all. And in the middle of that sits the Buckhorn.

Opened in the 1800's, the restaurant has seen its share of history and owners. The current proprietors promise excellent food at good prices. They use only certified angus beef, and offer a hot meal 365 days a year, from 8 am until 8 pm. They also bring in live music twice a month, adding good times with the good food.
