REAL ESTATE TRENDS
BallenIsles Sales*
 102A Palm Point
Inventory is beginning to creep up as expected with part time residents returning and thinking of making a change of residence.  There are now 107 properties on the market for sale in BallenIsles and don't be surprised if it climbs a bit higher in the coming months.  BallenIsles residents love to move especially within the community.  October was a slow month for closed sales but we also expect these numbers to rise with 3 properties already closed in November and 7 properties under contract but not yet closed.  You can see those numbers in future Newsletters.

GREAT ESCAPES                      Gardens Library
Gardens Branch Library

The North County branch of the Palm Beach County Library is back in circulation!  Renamed the Gardens Branch, it has just completed a $11.5 million renovation and expansion.  At 40,000 square feet this Regional Library serves as the neighborhood library to the Palm Beach Gardens area, and as a backup resource to the other neighborhood libraries in the North County area. The library circulates a large amount of popular adult fiction, non-fiction and children's materials.  A wide variety of electronic resources, such as magazine articles, newspaper databases and Internet access, are available to the public.  Hands-on computer training for novices as well as more experienced users is available.  The library has a large and very active children's department that offers programs to children of all ages.

The expansion from 24,000 square feet is in response to the 50 percent increase in library usage in the past three years. "Libraries are not just quiet places for reading anymore. They are community centers," said Palm Beach County Library Director John Callahan.  The new library - slightly larger than the Toys 'R' Us on PGA Boulevard - is carpeted in soft colors, has high ceilings and is brightened by natural light from large windows. The walls, desks and glass partitions are painted with colorful leaves, flowers and branches.

At first glance, the library is stocked with the usual. There are racks of movies from West Side Story to Star Trek. Music tapes from Bach to John Mayer. Audio books from James Patterson's Sails to To Have and Have Not by Ernest Hemingway.  But it's the new stuff that will make the place a hit.  There are 90 computers available for public use. There's a separate room for teenagers only. A public meeting room can fit up to 100 people, and a quiet room with wide desks for patrons who need a place to work.
