Mentoring Matching Grants administration transitioning to MMP
Since the late 1990s, the Massachusetts Service Alliance and Mass Mentoring Partnership (MMP) have aligned missions to advocate for mentoring through the Mentoring Matching Grants line item. As you know, the primary goal of this program is to increase the number of high-quality mentoring matches, while simultaneously ensuring the necessary training and technical assistance is available to support the success of each program and match.
As of July 1, MSA will transition the administration of the Mentoring Matching Grants line item to MMP. The most immediate change you will see will be the 2011-2012 Mentoring Initiative RFP that will be released by MMP instead of MSA. Programs will notice some changes to the RFP and grant conditions, but every effort will be made to make the process as smooth and program- friendly as possible.

Meet our marathoners The 2011 B.A.A. Boston Marathon® is only a month away! As an official charity of the Boston Athletic Association, our team of 19 runners has been training diligently for months, persevering through aches, pains, exhaustion and inclement weather. We are so proud of Team MMP and their determination to raise $80,000 to expand quality youth mentoring across Massachusetts. Be sure to check out our runners' fundraising pages and learn more about this amazing group.

James G. Connolly tribute fund
We are excited to share the launch of the newly created James G. Connolly Tribute Fund, an annual funding opportunity to be offered either as an award or project aligned with our mission of expanding quality youth mentoring throughout Massachusetts.
Areas of funding will be determined each year through a staff assessment of gaps in the mentoring field, and final selection will be made by MMP's board and the Connolly family.
This year, the funding opportunity will be available to academically focused mentoring programs in Holyoke, Lawrence and/or Springfield, to be used for two purposes: expanding and/or enhancing a program, and making progress on youth outcomes connected with academic success.

Latest on federal budget cuts
MMP is closely following the federal budget process, as one proposal eliminates all funding for the AmeriCorps and the Mentoring Children of Prisoners grant programs, among many others. Click here to read a communication we sent to the office of Sen. Scott Brown, urging him to level fund these critical programs that support the mentoring field in Massachusetts and across the United States.
