Mentoring in the news

MMP is striving to educate and inform people around Massachusetts about the power of mentoring - we've had several media appearances, including on Fox 25 Morning News, WGBH "The Point," the Governor's Engage! blog, the Well Talk radio show in Western MA, "Mass Appeal" on WWLP, and the Springfield Republican. Check out these news stories, as well as other great National Mentoring Month stories featuring youth mentoring programs from around the state, on our National Mentoring Month news and highlights page.

Ambassadors diligently making hygiene kits

Street Ambassadors of Mentoring successfully reached their goal of making 300 hygiene kits for distribution to three homeless shelters across Massachusetts. The Corps assembled their kits at the Worcester Youth Center, and even had a match - Justin and Pat from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Mass/Metrowest - help out!

Know any youth interested in art?

Youth participating in the Teen Docent Program at the Danforth Museum of Art can give tours to families, meet exhibiting artists, take free art classes, and plan a teen art event. They are paid a $500 stipend upon completion of the program.

Additionally, Teen Docents attest to learning public speaking skills, gaining general work experience, and learning about the possibilities of using their talent toward a creative career. Visit the Danforth Museum's web site for more information about this program.
