Astrology & Channeled Guidance in Every Issue                                                       July 2012  Volume 58

My cousin visited last weekend, from Manhattan.  She was struck by the peace and quiet of this small farm-ish area.  There's no question, Dover is far quieter than New York!  And Magnolia, this tiny town, is quieter still.  It's a kind of culture shock.  The streets of the Big Apple are more congested than ever, and the crush of people more intense.  Everything there is magnified, while most things here are subdued.  And I'm at the stage of life that can really appreciate the delight of being removed from all that hubbub.  Even before we moved down here, I was happy each time to get out of Manhattan and begin the drive up the tree-lined Palisades Parkway just to restore the spirit.  (And yet, I'm a born-and-bred New Yorker who spent my childhood on the subways, and learned to drive with the best of 'em in the city's "guerrilla driving" streets.)  I'm a city girl who's now become a country gal.

But it got me thinking about peace.  Inner peace.  That's really the quest.  The true question is: what gives me that?  Some people find peace in the hustle and bustle... because they are craving stimulation and energy.  For them, small town life can drive one buggy!  Some people at certain life stages require an urban experience with all its challenges and rewards.  Youth is particularly fond of that... and I sure had my share of "experiences"!

At some point, a very different thing is left.  A quality of life issue.  How can I relate to others in a way that brings joy?  How can I live the day-to-day while feeling whole?  How can I manage turbulent emotions and stressful demands in a fashion that brings me quickly back to inner serenity?

I've found a few answers.  Besides the ambiance of my surroundings, I've learned to alter the texture of my inner world.  If there is anger, I go towards what relaxes and refreshes me.  If I'm tense, I might dance or meditate.  If I'm feeling glum, I'll change my thought patterns until I feel content.  And if I'm scared, I'll face it with the faith that my Higher Self is running the show.  No one lives in here except me, and I've gotta figure out how to make it work.  So far, it's working fine.  I'm the Director of this show, and it feels pretty peaceful to know that.
With blessings and always, with Smiles,
Judi from Del-Aware

Movie Review: "Men in Black 3", Will Smith & Tommy Lee Jones, directed by Barry Sonnenfeld (Sony Pictures)

Despite poor reviews for this third sequel of the innovative and hilarious Men in Black franchise, my husband and I were pleasantly surprised by the ingenuity, humor, and coherence of its convoluted story. First of all, you have to like science fiction; you might do well to be a Fortean (because that's where the entire concept of men in black comes from, which I'll discuss later); and you have to be agreeable to whimsy and oddball absurdity... all of which, I guess I am.

Written by Etan Cohen, this movie tackled an amazing number of themes including time-travel, extraterrestrials, future technology, the moon launch, Coney Island freak shows, ethnic and racial stereotyping, asteroids hurtling to Earth, Andy Warhol's heyday, the Sixties, and last but certainly not least, the concept of multiple universes (multiverses) that is now being kicked around on the cutting edge of quantum physics. All of this is done seamlessly, and within its own absurdist universe, totally logically. The writer managed to blend an extremely complicated plot featuring characters straight out of an alternate universe who all behave completely consistently within their peculiar reality.

Critics complained that this movie did not reach the heights of hilarity that the previous two had. However, I thought it was brilliantly executed. If you're going to journey through Alice in Wonderland, so to speak, the rules of this realm must be upheld for the viewer to feel comfortable when being asked to suspend disbelief. Yes, there were minor flaws in the storyline, but all in all, very entertaining and thoroughly mind-expanding with great special effects and even some poignancy in the stoic characters.

As most people know, Tommy Lee Jones, one of the original Men in Black, makes brief appearances at two times in the movie while Josh Brolin plays him as his earlier self in the key era that must be visited in order to save planet Earth... what else?! And Will Smith is his usual wry, fabulously glib, and satisfyingly comical sidekick.  The plot is simply that Agent J travels in time to MIB's early years in the 1960s, to stop an alien from assassinating his friend Agent K and changing history.

For those who are not familiar with Fortean Times magazine (which I've reviewed in an earlier issue of this newsletter), the term "men in black" originates with reports over the decades of anonymous men in black suits who show up on the scenes of anomalous occurrences such as purported UFO crashes, or sightings of ABCs (alien big cats), or other funky and threatening events. Reports usually state that these men show up in plain black sedans, dressed conservatively, act efficiently, often don't identify themselves, and then when their business is done leave with no traces left behind. Are they FBI? Are they some secret investigative organization? The fact that many average citizens have over the years seen them means that this is not in itself a fantasy but something that actually has and does occur, but no one quite knows who they are, what their mission is, or where they go with the information they gather. Therefore, a mythology has sprung up around these sightings that has been used successfully by Hollywood, not only in the Men in Black franchise but also in The Matrix.

It's always fun and pretty cool when such peculiarities merge with true science and excellent fiction. I can comfortably recommend this movie to viewers, especially if you have a little pixie dust in your makeup.

Teachings of The Brotherhood of Light Workers
By Judi Thomases

The following segment has been received, word for word through a psychic process known as channeling.  It is an invited procedure.  The teachings always serve to guide us through the journey of life.  Compilations of many such messages are available in book, PDF and audio formats: Compilation of BoLW's Messages

In the ending of something, there is the sense of conclusion or achievement or of finality. But in the beginning is always the sense of possibility. The main difference between beginning and ending can be said to be the difference between infinity and specificity, or between choice and creation versus results and form (also known as limitation).

We speak now of working with energies, approaching your next effort wherein you face an indeterminate future in which you would like to imbue some qualities, or chance some experience. In the beginning, things remain open, and depending upon the assortment of energetic possibilities before you, you can play, you can pick, you can shape; perhaps you may follow but always there remains an open end, a never-before induced possibility. This statement applies to a product you may wish to build, a life choice you may wish to engage in, or a piece of truth you may hunger to discover. In other words, beginnings offer possibilities through the tangible and the intangible.

It may seem obvious but still can and should be stated that endings are quintessentially different from beginnings in that a destination is reached. This destination is the outcome of the path of creative discovery. The destination can be something bitter or something sweet, but it has, by definition, its determined qualities. And so endings can be defined as the cessation of energetic pathways.

An ending feels very different from a beginning because in new beginnings rest excitement, curiosity, perhaps trepidation, and light whereas in endings rests form, quietude, and usually the removal of energetic movement. Since our definitions are broad, it is possible to achieve an ending in which a sort of movement continues, such as the production of a motor vehicle... but the movement that continues is not the inner life, the vital spark of newness that is inherent in all fresh starts.

One thing the ending contains that the beginning does not is knowledge, for whether one has been successful in the quest to produce, follow, create, explore and so forth that was part of the motivating initial energy, the results always give knowledge. This knowledge becomes part of the body of wisdom gained from being alive. Such wisdom is the real treasure. Better by far than the obvious results of the effort.

After the ending, a new cycle will of course begin, for nothing is static in the realm of energy, and must keep going even if it goes around and around in a habit loop. All is in motion at all times in the universe. To dwell mostly in the polarity of fresh starts and unbridled potential is to be a person in love with possibility whereas to prefer dwelling in the realm of completed effort is less adventurous and often less turbulent. Not everyone is cut out for the continuous exploration of possibilities; most fall midway, finding themselves in a new adventure willy-nilly by virtue of being alive. There is no good/bad or right/wrong with this, but it is always well to look from afar and see the mysterious nature of life under a transformed gaze.

On the world front, July begins with the focus on communications and news (Jupiter conjunct South Node in Gemini; lots of air in play), and a lively exciting buzz that will be favorable for windfalls and innovations (Venus sextile Uranus). Serious matters involving corporations and banks will be highlighted on the 3rd (Full Moon in Capricorn). Brilliant concepts may be proposed on the 5th and 25th, but will meet with resistance (Mercury trine Uranus, quinqunx Pluto). Mid-month features the intensification of clashes between individual interests vs. entrenched power structures (Uranus station retrograde square Pluto - a pattern that will continue for the next 4 years), but also presents wonderfully creative possibilities through technology (Uranus sextile Jupiter). The 15th gives the chance to resolve dramatic issues through diplomacy (Mercury station retrograde in Leo sextile Venus exact), while the 17th balances force against confidence as leaders try to stave off fury with the judicious use of military strength (Mars trine Jupiter, square Pluto). Blockages are lifting (Saturn moving forward in Libra), yet clashes and frustrations crescendo on the 19th (Mars opposite Uranus; New Moon square Saturn). Late month sees a return to greater stability, especially economically (Venus trine Saturn), and a resumption of clever options (Sun trine Uranus).

In the U.S., a dynamic period regarding allies and teamwork begins right after the 4th (Mars conjunct Midheaven in Libra) and lasts through the 13th, stimulated by good news, stunning opportunities, and humanitarian avenues (Jupiter sextile Node, conjunct Uranus; Uranus station retrograde trine Node). It will seem as though anything is possible via inventiveness, technology, and a willingness to avoid war and man-made disaster. By mid month, discussions and planning focuses on sensible legislation (Mercury station retrograde trine Ascendant exact, sextile Saturn, conjunct H9) and new options for economic revival (New Moon conjunct Fortuna exact/progressed Node/Mercury in H8). Hollywood also will benefit from these patterns (Mercury SRx in Leo). By month's end, frustrations will be noticeable as recent progress seems to hit a wall (Mars conjunct Saturn in H10).

President Obama seems to be going through a long growth cycle wherein his beliefs are changing and his strengths are developing (Pluto Rx sextile Neptune, trine progressed Pluto); however, this late blooming is offset by continuing delusional thinking (Neptune Rx quinqunx Mercury, quinqunx progressed Sun). On the 3rd, he will be very much involved with networking through groups and friendships (campaign funding, no doubt) (Full Moon in Capricorn H11). By the 6th, he's angry about a financial issue and is in for a big fight (Mars conjunct progressed Sun in H8)! For the remainder of the month, he is challenged by secrets and karmic obstacles (Saturn ruler of H12 from H12 square progressed Saturn). By mid month, despite tension on the homefront (Jupiter in H4 square Pluto), he will enjoy parties and celebrations that are excellent for fundraising and improved popularity (Venus conjunct Sun) while he hones his revised message or image (Mercury station retrograde conjunct Sun exact). By the 19th, his new focus is on the job market and employment issues (New Moon in H6).

For Mitt Romney, Week 1 is especially blessed for financial gain and happy gatherings (Full Moon in Capricorn H8; Venus trine Fortuna/Venus), and he is overly buoyant and highly emotional (progressed Moon sqq progressed Jupiter). The week ends with an inspirational sense (Venus trine Neptune). He is undergoing a healing pattern as well during this period (Pluto sextile Chiron), although he continues to feel a generalized undermining of his message (Neptune quinqunx Saturn in H3).   Weeks 2 and 3 continue to be delightful and confidence-building, with popularity rising and money pouring in (Venus sextile progressed Midheaven; Jupiter trine Midheaven/Fortuna/Venus, sextile progressed Moon, trine progressed Neptune, forming a Kite/Grand Air Trine; Uranus station retrograde sextile Venus exact). He is probably on the attack, especially between the 11th - 19th, with persuasive arguments (Mercury station retrograde conjunct Pluto), courage and speed (Mars trine Midheaven/Fortuna/Venus, opposite progressed Moon). Any affront to his family will evoke the utmost reaction and a barrage of words (Uranus station retrograde conjunct progressed Moon exact; New Moon in H3 conjunct progressed Ascendant). He may feel betrayed and weakened between the 20th - 28th (Mars conjunct Neptune; progressed Moon opposite progressed Neptune), but can show spunk on the 24th (Mars sextile Pluto).
