A PERSONAL NOTE
The weather patterns have not been the norm, have they? Excessive rain, or drought, or heat etc., depending on where you live. This kinda reflects the turbulence in our country and ourselves. There are conflicting desires - in us, and in our systems. No calm, no peace. Weather, as is everything in the physical realm, is in part a reflection of our emotions. Who nowadays isn't caught up in some discord? The government sure is!
In such situations, the guiding wisdom has always been to drop desire, to have no expectations, to "go with the flow". One great quote on this is from The Third Chinese Patriarch (an ancient sage): "The Great Way is not difficult for one who has no preferences." But in today's political climate, that doesn't seem feasible to do. Even if we manage to have "no preferences" in our personal lives, it seems we are being pressed into big decisions in our national path.
I don't know about you, but being without preference in my personal relationships or life choices is not easy right now. Conflicting Desires is the name of the game! (Saturn opposite Uranus.) We are being pulled in two, yet we are meant to become one. I think that "without preference" means to attune with the Flow and adjust your personal choice to that direction... but then where does the logical (analytical) mind come in? That part of our mind is what makes us human. Just as we've had to find a way through the Threat of Nuclear Annihilation, in my opinion it's just as important that we find the way through discord now, using a combination of spiritual practice and rational discourse to do so. It's the next level of personal and global evolution.

Book Review: "The Divine Matrix" (Gregg Braden, Hay House)
Here's another take on physics meeting Eastern wisdom! Enjoyable, though a bit slow getting into.
As with many such books, it's apparent that the scientists and mathematicians who can see the oneness in theory can't quite fathom it with the "inquiring mind". Even when touting the oneness of consciousness, for instance, Braden talks of "a universal field of energy", perhaps called Ether, wherein "something is definitely there" (page 21), thus immediately implying Other-ness. Or as when he says "we appear to be holograms of a greater existence" (page 111), thus revealing that he believes in the concept of oneness but can't quite grasp what it is or how it works. Maybe it takes the mystical experience to reach the full realization that only consciousness exists, and that it's all just a game of duality with nothing there except itself.
Personally, I feel that the rational mind of science has a real problem letting go of the world-view of 3-D form and reaching into the paranormal experience of no boundaries and non-locality; there is a terrible, limiting prejudice against doing this. Rationality strives for understanding but fears the very thing that would solve the enigma. (But that's just my opinion; I could be wrong.)
Anyhow, I recommend the book but wish it went further!

The Quest for Harmony
We see that there is a questing desire to find a way of peace now. This quest is growing ever stronger because there is obvious and increasing dissonance in the forefront which shows no sign of abatement, so the inner self more and more seeks the answer to the ever more strident exterior. And this answer is not easily forthcoming, so the inner self feels distress and senses urgency in its solution.
Isn't this wonderful? Isn't the magnitude of distress fomenting a great push for surcease? We think so.
The constitution of humans by necessity contains resistance. Fluidity of personality and form make for a sloppy container, and so during the course of evolution the form had to be fixed, and so too, the personality. Therefore, change is hard. Altering the patterns of energetic development requires much effort against resistance. The human being is essentially an inert vessel. Only great force can move this vessel to its next level. Humans do not waft there serenely, but must be thrust, kicking and fussing, as though under a barrage or swept up in a maelstrorm. It is the way of this world.
So at the very time you regard the distress factor as high and the inner turmoil as increasing, be sure to include in your thoughts that you are being carried forward into something wonderful and perfect. You are participating in the evolution of the species even as you figure out the quest for harmony within the events of the present.
We are all around and will not abandon the struggle but in fact guide it all, in each and every one.
All is right. All is well. All is "on schedule."

 September 2009 Astro Tidbits
By September 4th, we'll be seeing the conclusion of dreamy imaginings and wishful thinking (Full Moon in Pisces). Except for a romantic interlude on the 16th (Venus opposite Neptune), the remainder of the month abounds in practicality. Idealism must give ground to reality as divisive energies take over.
Attempts to placate won't work on the 7th; instead there are brash and angry words (Mercury stations retrograde square Mars). The terrorist anniversary date of September 11th is filled with much pressurized power struggling (Pluto station direct) but this time it's all about the economy and costs (Pluto at 0 Capricorn), with ongoing lavish outlay at the crux of the problem (Jupiter Rx opposite Venus).
Open rebellion is likely on the 17th (Sun opposite Uranus). Seniors (Capricorn) are at the heart of the uprising. The continuing tug-of-war between the progressive and the traditional, or between new and old, is just getting going! The opposition is at maximum tension on the 18th, and is producing great confusion and polarization (New Moon conjunct Saturn, opposite Uranus, quinqunx Neptune). By the 22nd, efforts are required to be specifiic and realistic (Mercury Rx conjunct Saturn in Virgo). Obama-care needs to spell things out.
Speaking of President Obama, September is not an easy month. It begins and ends with frustrating impediments, especially regarding funding (Saturn in 8th conjunct Mars, approaching opposition to Sun). Mid-month is not favorable to push for change (progressed Moon square Midheaven, quinqunx progressed Sun), and there is much arguing about domestic issues, even within his own family (Mars in Cancer 5th, ruler of his 3rd). Between the 15th - 18th, there are pressures to find the right plans and wording to reinvent projects (Pluto station semi-sextile Jupiter, quinqunx Mercury); the need for specific details shows him striving for a new start yet fielding clashing viewpoints about cost factors (New Moon conjunct Mars/progressed Moon in 8th, with Saturn conjunct). Happily, he's in a period of great personal growth (Jupiter conjunct Ascendant) and healing inspiration (Neptune trine progressed Mars/progressed Mercury/Solar Arc Pluto). He'll figure out something!
