Sing whilst changing nappies with Rhythm Time!
 The forthcoming Baby Show at the NEC, Birmingham in May is an exciting time for the pre-school music group Rhythm Time, when they will be launching their first ever booklet 'From Waking to Sleeping' to complement the developmental learning approach used in their classes.
Rhythm Time baby classes provide a multi-sensory experience where the varied activities help with eye tracking, balance, development of the inner ear, speech, language and small motor movements. Vital brain connections must be made in the first year of a baby's life and this booklet has been written to reinforce the developmental benefits gained by using music and singing. There's a simple song or rhyme to accompany activities throughout the day such as changing baby's nappy, play time, quiet time and bath time and the purpose of each activity is explained.  Kathy Doolan founder and owner of Rhythm Time explains why she wrote the booklet. She said: "Many parents tell me how much they enjoy our classes and ask what more they could do at home. This booklet gives parents useful ideas of when to use the songs and rhymes and explains why music and song are so fundamental to a baby's development." Mums in Business
This month we drop in on a day in the life of Rhian.
"Deadlines, childcare, playing, groceries, financials, ironing? Normal stuff for busy mums.
 On this particular morning Abigail pooed on me - Daniel thought it was fun to play in it and Isabelle was playing hide and seek with the car keys.
Running late. Usually I drop the children off and return home to the "office" or head to a class to teach. But today I am meeting Sarah, my business partner, so I have an hours' drive. I am enjoying the time in the car when the engine cuts out and I notice the fuel light on. I stop. Get out and assess. I can see a garage - quickest route is over a field. In a skirt and heels for the first time in months I hitch up my skirt, climb over the fence and make my way to the garage.
Generally I work from home around the family. I get paid to sing, dance and pretend. I can fit my business in around my family and friends and I love my job.
 I run a Pyjama Drama franchise - Drama, movement and creative play for 2-5 year olds. Classes are full of fun and games that encourage young children to use their imaginations, and to develop social skills such as concentration, co-operation and confidence. Franchising began in November 08. I came on board as a franchisee and did so well I have ended up as a Director of the business. In half a term I have over 10 classes, 2 private contracts and lots of party bookings.
