Helpful Business Hints

NUMBER ONE

Not all of us are perfect keyboardists. (I mean computer, not electric keyboard.)  And spell check doesn't always catch everything, especially homonyms (look that one up).  Here is a helpful little hint.  Read what you have written "backwards".  That brakes the flow and helps you focus on the words

Number 2
A New Tool For Churches

I recently came across a neat little product that is aimed at churches.  It was developed by a software designer for his church.  It is called MemberHub.

MemberHub creates a centralized place for member-driven organizations, such as churches and nonprofits, to handle organization wide communication among groups, teams and ministries.

MemberHub allows churches, association/ non-profit staff and community members to  handle the logistics, administration, communication and coordination of all functions and activities.

Organizations can provide the means to build relationship- oriented communities through one simple login.

We are always looking for tips for saving time and/or money or help with producing additional revenue.  Please share them with others.

From the Editor... BREAKING FORTH!!!!
by Bill Gaffney

We are always excited to bring you great articles that will inspire you in your walk with God and also help your business.  Christian Marketplace Network is a unique organization in that it is the only "networking" organization that does both and provides our members with all types of encouragement and support.

In this challenging time it is easy to lose sight of Who our Provider really is and allow our priorities to get out of whack.  It is also easy to believe I have to take back the reigns of my business.

Finally I am reminded of the Biblical line that the kingdom is "exploding" forth.  Much teaching talks about this meaning taking by force.  That is not it at all.  The word used in this passage is the Hebrew word poretz.  Every night the shepherds would put the sheep in a three walled pen with a pile of boulders in front.  This was to protect them from predators.  In the morning the shepherd would come and tear down the boulders (literally "one who breaks through") and the sheep would bound forth in joy.

Are you leaping forth in joy as a Christian business person?

Enjoy this month's newsletter.

THE MOST BANG FOR YOUR ADVERTISING BUCK
From Small Biz Success Network

When money's tight, the knee-jerk reaction for many small business owners is to cut back on advertising. Unfortunately, the businesses that stop advertising simply drop out of sight, taking these businesses from slow sales to no sales ...fast.

It's a risky move from which many may not recover. Instead of eliminating advertising in a recession, cut the fat from your advertising campaign and focus on the right choices for the highest ROI.
TEAM BUILDING/RETENTION BUILDING
By Vince Crew

My good friend Vince Crew is known as the "Ethic's Guy" on FOX, and he is from Ashland, Ohio to boot.  I love Vince's stuff because it is short, simple and to the point.  In a few paragraphs he imparts a lot of common sense and good business practices that are easy to use.

In this issue of the newsletter I have linked to a question and answer Vince did recently on team building/retention and I have also provided a bonus article, that is a little older on employee benefits.  You will want to read both.

As always thank you my friend for your keen insight.

SOME INSPIRATION FOR TOUGH TIMES
By Marty Grunder

It's tough right now. I run a small business and I can see it firsthand. Those who play this smart will be just fine. Here are 4 quick tips to help you right now.

1) Take care of your best clients right now. They are the reason you have a business in the first place; don't neglect them. Spoil them with service; let them know from your actions that you appreciate them.

2) On the other hand, jettison those clients who are difficult to work with and you don't make money from. You really can't afford to work with them right now and trust me, you won't miss them. If you don't know who your best clients are or who you don't make money from, then you need to figure that out ASAP.

3) Hustle. Get out there and look for work and look for clients. I have found a lot of people are depressed and sitting around complaining; that doesn't do a darn thing; get out and get to work. You'll be surprised what you find.

4) Do some marketing. Send out a postcard, do a newsletter, have an open house. Show your marketplace you are alive and well and keep your name out there. Not only will that help you right now, but it will also help you once the economy picks up!

Gotta run....I've got to get to work myself!
