Jason Comstock
A big thank you to Jason.  He has spent the last two plus years listening to me, and others, complain, AND WHINE, about the web site.  During that time he has been serving as our IT director.

Jason is a former manager for CompuServe and now has his own very successful technology and consulting business.

Jason will remain with Christian Marketplace Network as a member.

He and HIS wife will be spending more time in ministering to couples with struggling marriages.  What a great and challenging mission field.

THANKS JASON!!!

Helpful Business Hints

NUMBER ONE

Author of the E-Myth, Michael Gerber, suggests conducting a meeting standing up.  Try it!!  You might be surprised at the results.

Number 2
Christian Marketplace Network Web Site

In case you missed this last month or have been procrastinating.

Many of our members are not taking advantage of this excellent free tool.  This is the way other members and non-members can find you on the web site.

First of all, we suggest you look at a few other members and see how they are using it.

To log onto your web page, go to member log-in on the top right of the home page.  If you do not know your user name and password, click on "retrieve account information".  If you don't receive anything in your e-mail in a couple minutes, send an e-mail to our admin and ask her to make sure you have a user name and password assigned.

When you get to the page, check out all the information for accuracy.  Especially check your e-mail address.  It might be incorrect.  (We use a separate database for the newsletter so it can be correct in one and incorrect in the other.)

Then make sure you have all the business categories filled in that are applicable.  Also make sure you fill in the short and long business descriptions.

The short business description is also known as metatags.  These are terms people would use to search for you.  You can use as many as you like.  This section is not viewable on the public side.

The long business description is viewable on the public side and is what you use to describe your business.  Many times you can use what is on your own web site.  It provides great consistency in branding.  Don't forget words in here are also searchable.

Finally don't forget your own web site name.

We look forward to seeing more of your information.

We are always looking for tips for saving time and/or money or help with producing additional revenue.  Please share them with others.

FORWARD THIS NEWSLETTER
From the Editor... GOOD STUFF!!!!
by Bill Gaffney

This newsletter is a little different in context and content.  Hopefully it will challenge you to look at your role in the marketplace and how you function as a leader.  We're hoping it also will challenge you to raise the standard and set a higher example.

Remember, Moses, the man of God, asked someone else to count with him.  Even though God and the people trusted him entirely he wanted to be beyond reproach.

Finally, you do not wish to miss a huge Marketplace Ministry event this Saturday in Cincinnati.  You will find more a little further down.

Enjoy this month's newsletter.

PS DON'T FORGET TO RENEW
WHAT IS COVERING?
By Bill Gaffney, editor

It was once written, "These are difficult words".

Those that know me well know that I am almost obsessed (truth be known obsessed) with accountability.  So what is this covering thing I am talking about?  In Bible terms it might be called Apostolic covering.

Apostolic covering simply amounts to a spiritual covering over your church, ministry and/or business.  Unfortunately all of the above, including churches, do a very poor job of this.  They are out there on their own, hoping or maybe even thinking, they are doing this right.

Churches claim a denominational covering much of the time and most have elders, deacons, etc..  Businesses and ministries typically have a board of directors, or something similar.  All of these are great, necessary and must haves.  But they tend to be operational, administrative and provide general oversight.  They are not the people that are generally going to be your spiritual covering.

A spiritual covering is someone(s) you can turn to and say how is my business, ministry, church, etc doing from a spiritual perspective.  These people do not have to be in your denominationThis has nothing to do with doctrine.  It has to do with spiritual principles and practices.

In my limited experience I have seen very little of this practiced.  Oh, sometimes people will say they have a spiritual covering but it is in name only.

My experience are those institutions that have a spiritual covering generally tend to flourish more.  Why?  They are in God's total will generally.

So does Christian Marketplace Network have a spiritual covering?  Not really but my intent is to rectify this in the next month or two.  So join me in praying for that and one for yourself.

These are hard words but not meant to be condemning.  They are meant to be a challenge and encouragement.  We are called to set the example.  How can we if we are not doing it ourselves?

Another part of covering is constant and consistent prayer for your business, ministry, etc.  There are some corporations that actually employ and pay intercessors.  The Dayton region of Christian Marketplace Network has had chaplains for several years, and I think at least one other region does as well.  The Dayton regional chaplain, Thomas Wise, has offered to pray for any business or individual and provide spiritual encouragement for any business on this list.  You may contact him at 937-422-4690 or
tewise@donet.com,

Bill

And before you ask, yes I have a covering for my role within this organization, someone outside of the organization.

YOU ALL HAVE MADE THIS POSSIBLE

As many of you are aware the international prayer organization, Call2All, had a North American Congress in Dayton last month.

As usual Christian Marketplace Network contributed to another huge success.  All of the attendees at CALL2ALL were blown away by the marketplace ministry speakers.  Those included Veronica Grabill, Ken Becker, Harvey Hook, Chuck Proudfit and Andrea Mack, all members and or marketplace ministry partners. We also assisted in organizing the business track.

The following is a note from our friend Al Caperna, a marketplace ministry leader from Toledo:

"Hi team, I wanted to follow up, in regards to what was an  incredible week here in Dayton with the Call2All congress. What a powerful time.  I was just with the Call2All management team this week in Hawaii. It was a real privilege to hear them talking about the week in Dayton & the significance of it (people are literally speaking about Dayton all over the world!!!)"

For some of us in Dayton this had a real special significance.  The seeds of this effort were planted over 50 years ago by a small faithful band of brothers known as Full Gospel Businessmen.  For many in Christian Marketplace Network in Dayton many of these people have been mentors and leaders over the years.

Many people don't know about Christian Marketplace Network yet, but we are starting to be known as leaders in marketplace ministry efforts!!!  You never know how your efforts will be rewarded and blessed.

THOUGHTS ON LEADERSHIP
From our friend Ford Taylor

A KINGDOM LEADER
    1. is patient
...and willing to wait for (and trust) God to break through and manifest His power because of His love for His people and for the lost.

    2. is called
...to the city and to their vocation (pastor, leader, boss, etc) AND empowers others to lead because of their heart for the city as well as the lost.

    3. chooses to live a lifestyle of prayer and worship
...repentance and forgiveness are walked out on a daily basis with confidence that God is our only source of power to solve the problems we face.

    4. is humble
...humble enough to be effective as a team leader (not domineering).  Willing to acknowledge we cannot do it alone.

    5. has no selfish ambition, no personal agenda
...God's agenda is their only purpose and they can easily answer "yes" if God asks them these questions; "Would you give up your church, business, or ministry?" OR "would you be ok if it shrunk for the greater purposes of reaching your city for Jesus?"

    6. is transparent
...is willing to walk in total transparency with bumper people around them and hold nothing back

    7. If you can check yes to these statements
...then there is an understanding that prayer, worship, confession, repentance, forgiveness, working together, doing life together are lifestyles and not one time events!

Leadership is a lifestyle, not a job or position.
