Featured Member
This recognition is long overdue.

This member was an early member of Christian Business Network.  He helped to start and still co-leads one of the Columbus chapters.  He has also served on the Executive Committee since the beginning.

But his greatest accomplishments and contributions have come in the form of direction, guidance and focus for Christian Business Network

As the one time director Jerry King led the way in creating a lot of needed structure and necessary documentation, things most people don't want to do.  And he did this for nominal compensation.

Thank you Jerry for your service and commitment to Christian Business Network.

If you have a suggestion for Featured Member, please send it to the editor.

JOTT (from my friend Nancy Hagan):  There's an easy-to-use NO-COST service called JOTT. It's simple: Call an 800 number (which you can program into speed dial on your phone), leave a message and it will convert your voice into an email and send it to your Inbox.

You can also send reminders to someone else or a group. You can categorize your lists, and even send a recording of your voice, as well as view and edit your messages and lists online.

When it's not convenient to write, speak to Jott! There are simple instructions and more info at www.Jott.com  Enjoy!

We are always looking for tips for saving time and/or money or help with producing addtional revenue.  Please share them with others.

FORWARD THIS NEWSLETTER
From the Editor...
by Bill Gaffney

We get many compliments on the newsletter contents.  But we also receive questions regarding just what determines the content of the newsletter.

The right hand column is generally reserved for articles about business.  After all Christian Business Network is about business.  Each business' success allows each one and all of us to be a better example for God in the marketplace.

We would love to fill this column with articles from Christian Business Network members such as Wayne Essex's articles below.  But unfortunately we have to supplement with articles from other publications.

When we look for articles we look for tips, ideas, methods, etc that will assist our businesspeople.

The left hand column is reserved for Christian Business Network news and events, featured member, featured ministry/non-profit and helpful hints.

All submissions should be sent to the editor.

Enjoy this month's newsletter.

This tape will encourage, inspire and motivate you.

HOW TO PRIORITIZE YOUR MARKETING OPPORTUNITIES

Whether you're an entrepreneur just getting started, the manager of a marketing team, or the CEO of a sizable company, there are always too many products and services out there to sell. It's a good problem to have. But if you don't manage it well, you'll spread yourself too thin and end up spinning your wheels.

Steve Kroening publishes a weekly newsletter called Wisdom"s Edge full of all kinds of advice, tips and encouraging stories for Christians.

LOVE THE CUSTOMERS WHO HATE YOU
By Jeff Jarvis from BusinessWeek

Their online gripes-and don't fool yourself, they have them-will help you reinvent your business.

Now don't get mad at these people. Instead, help them get even with you. These angry customers are doing you a great favor.

IN THE GAME OF BUSINESS, PLAYING FAIR CAN ACTUALLY LEAD TO GREATER PROFITS
From Knowledge at Wharton

Tune into "The Apprentice," and you get an all-too-common view of business. Every week, all of the wannabe moguls try to impress Donald Trump by preening, cajoling and conniving. In this world, toughness is the measure of every CEO, and the boss glories in firing people and squeezing every penny out of suppliers.

Yet according to John Zhang and Jagmohan Raju, both Wharton marketing professors, and Tony Haitao Cui, a University of Minnesota marketing and logistics professor, many people aren't purely mercenary in their business dealings. They care about fairness -- and they should, the researchers say, because doing so can maximize their profits.

Sincerely,
