Connecting Parents

We're all about helping parents get connected, whether by meeting in our shop, at one of our free groups or in one of our more structured classes.  It's so important to have support, find like-minded parents, share ideas and questions, express concerns and frustrations and highlight all the joyful moments with your child.

It's common when you have children that you make new friends.  Perhaps a new relationship blossomed in a childbirth class.  Perhaps you bonded with another parent in class or group with your new baby.  Or, perhaps you haven't experienced this bliss yet?  Well, come on down!  Join a New Moms Group, come to a Daddy & Me Time or take a class.

Mothers & Company (a.k.a. "MoCo") was created with the goal of nurturing relationships and supporting families.  Did you know that you have a lot in common with other parents?  Come find out what those commonalities are.  Sometimes it's just the love and wonder you have for your children and othertimes it's the way you are raising them that you have in common.  Come share with other parents the excitement of learning more each day about who you are as a parent, listen to your child and enjoy the privilege of deciding what's best for you, your baby and your family.

And, of course, don't forget that we have air conditioning!  MoCo is a great place to stop for a drink, change a diaper or just take a break in your busy schedule.  We're happy to see you!

Itsy Bitsy Yoga Tots now on Thursdays, 6-week series
A supportive, fun-loving, and active yoga class for children who are crawling to age 24 months (with a caregiver). As tot's mobility increases, classes offer tot-centric poses that encourage and support their physical explorations. Tots become more confident in their moving bodies as they practice yoga both in and out of class.  During a Tots Itsy Bitsy Yoga class crawlers and walkers playfully practice yoga postures while they are standing, sitting up, walking, and jumping. Parents also get to do a little yoga, but no yoga experience is required.

Wee Hands Sing & Sign Refresher
Have you taken a sign class a while ago and feel a bit rusty? Have you never signed before, but are interested in giving it a try? Then this Claire and twinsworkshop is for you!  Come and learn/review over 50 signs and a minimum of 5 songs to sing and sign throughout the day with your baby or toddler. Ever wanted to learn the signs for "Goodnight Moon?" The instructor will also sign a few of your favorite children's books so you can spark your child's love of reading by adding signs to books at home! Topics to be covered include eating, playing, changing/potty routines, and sleeping. A growing body of research shows that signing with your baby can increase a child's acquisition and mastery of spoken language, increase literacy skills, and even increase IQ! A baby can sign before they can speak, which can decrease frustration/tantrums and increase the parent-baby bond. Not to mention, kids love it!  Led by Claire, a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, Early Intervention provider, and WeeHands sign instructor. She has been working at The Learning Center for the Deaf since 2004. She is also mom to 14 mo. old signing twins and has seen first hand the power and joy of signing.
