Drum Roll, Please...
Announcing New Classes
@
      moco leaves square

Hello, all!  Whew, it's finally hot out.  We all seem to be pondering what we're going to do this summer, so we've got some great options for you.

For those of you who are teachers, we have a BUNCH of classes that start in July, so check them out.

There are also some other options in the community...like local parks and playgrounds.  Going out for ice cream is always a great thing in the summer (and sorbet is a nice option if you're watching your waistline).
Davis Farmland is one amazing option that experienced parents know about but new parents may not. If you go, be sure to wear lots of non-toxic sunscreen (we have some in stock, of course), put floppy hats on the kids (we have those, too) and wipe your kids' hands with some healthy wipes or sanitizer (yep, we have that, too) after they pet the many animals there.
Love u-pick fruit, playgrounds, ice cream, pies AND animals?  You can find all four in one location at Tougas Family Farm.  Tell them we sent you!  Headed to your local pool (or ours...we'll soon be announcing some dates for Open Swim), read about pool safety first!

And when you're ready to come inside for some air-conditioning, cold water and good company, we're here for you!

Team up with Coach Alexis Rougas-Ermilio of Adventure Boot Camp Worcester to take your workout and your baby (or toddler or preschooler!) outside.

Enjoy the beautiful scenery and shady trees of the West Boylston Rail Trail and get a full body workout.  This hour long session will incorporate both upper and lower body exercises that will get your heart beating and muscles burning.

Exercises may include resistance tubes, body weight training (you and your baby) and nature's own gym equipment!  If you are a babywearer, bring a carrier so if your child prefers to be worn, you'll get an even better workout!  Strollers with big wheels are necessary, as the trail is NOT paved the whole way and there may be mud or uneven areas. In case of inclement weather, we'll have the class at Mothers & Company.

REGISTER so we can let you know where to meet the instructor, or call 508.835.6666 if you're being spontaneous and we can register you via telephone for either the whole series or a drop-in.

Not in the mood for yoga (or swimming) classes?  Looking for something educational for both you and your child?  We've got a couple great options!

Walk This Way: Skill Dev't for
Near & New Walkers   NEW

Six Saturdays, 10:00 am - 11:00 am

This class is designed for children that are crawling, pulling up on furniture to stand and/or newly walking. Learning to walk is an exciting process which requires the integration of balance, coordination, strength and motivation. Luckily it can be helped along with some simple activities and lots of repetition. This class teaches parents basic child motor development and lots of simple tricks to help foster walking skills. The use of appropriate toys, props and footwear will also be discussed. Each session will include guided play in a variety of positions as we work on the components of walking. The classes will be a mix of individual attention and group play, as well as opportunities for parents to ask questions.

Designed and led by Christine Feeley, a pediatric physical therapist who has her doctorate in physical therapy. Christine has worked with Early Intervention and other programs for many years to help young children develop to their potential while helping parents discover how they can help their children do so!

Floor Play:  Developing Baby's Skills   NEW
Six Saturdays, 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

This class is intended for infants and will focus on pre-crawling and pre-walking skills. This is a great time to start working on your child's motor skills and forming good play habits. Babies that participate in floor time activities tend to walk sooner than those who do not. They also demonstrate great social, fine motor, communication and self-help skills. Each session will include guided play in a variety of positions including the back, side, tummy and sitting. Parents will learn general information on motor development and how to best foster skills as their child becomes more mobile. We will discuss the use of simple toys and props to advance motor skills and each family will be given ideas for play at home.

Itsy Bitsy is Now on Tuesdays

Itsy Bitsy Yoga Baby
Six Tuesdays, 1:00 - 2:00 pm
Baby yoga
For baby (six weeks to almost crawling) with a parent or caregiver. Baby Itsy Bitsy Yoga classes contain dozens of unique yoga postures designed to support your baby's development. Each class is filled with calming, nurturing ways to enhance bonding and improve baby's sleep. During the BABY IBY class, the baby is mostly lying on her tummy, back or in a parent's arms. For parents, this class gives the special time necessary to bond with and learn about your baby's emerging personality. Most of the yoga we do in Itsy Bitsy Yoga is for the child, but you will learn breathing and relaxation techniques as well as practice some yoga for yourself. No yoga experience necessary!

Our own Sarah Whiteman, a mother and yoga teacher, received her IBY training directly from Helen Garabedian, the founder of Itsy Bitsy Yoga. A minimum number of registrants required. Due to the nature of this class' curriculum, unfortunately we cannot offer makeups for this class.

Register HERE for the 6-week series starting Tuesday, July 13 at 1:00 pm, $80

Itsy Bitsy Yoga Tots
Six Tuesdays, 11:00 - 11:45 am

Itsy Bitsy Yoga for Tots is a supportive, fun-loving, and active yoga class for children who are crawling to age 24 months (with a caregiver). As tot's mobility increases, classes offer tot-centric poses that encourage and support their physical explorations. Tots become more confident in their moving bodies as they practice yoga both in and out of class. During a Tots Itsy Bitsy Yoga class crawlers and walkers playfully practice yoga postures while they are standing, sitting up, walking, and jumping. Parents also get to do a little yoga, but no yoga experience is required. Led by Sarah Whiteman.

Register HERE for the 6-week series starting Tuesday, July 13 at 11:00 am, $80

Loco for MoCo?  Help Spread the Word

We love hearing your kind comments, like:

"I love it here"
"Thanks so much for making this place"
"I could stay here all day long"
"I wish I could buy everything in here"
"You guys have all the best stuff"
"Thanks so much for your help"

But we also hear a good bit of, "wow, I wish I had known months ago that you were here."  So, help others find out that we're here.  You know why you love it here*...so spread the word to your friends, family, neighbors and even strangers.

How?
  • Walk up to someone with a baby or toddler at the grocery store and say, "Have you heard of Mothers & Company?"  People will appreciate your letting them know about your favorite resources.
  • Ask us for some business cards that you can pass out.
  • Tell your friends about that cool class you're taking at MoCo and encourage them to take it with you!
  • Find us on Facebook   Highlight our Facebook pages to your friends (look for Mothers and Company and you'll see our Fan page and our company page).  Friends live far away?  That's okay, we have great resources on our website and a webstore that keeps getting better and better.
  • Send us a quote that we can post on the internet...and some we'll literally write on our walls in our shop or classrooms.  We decided that as much as we have other quotes on there, we should add more...from YOU!
We're working hard to make Mothers & Company the favorite resource for parents and parents-to-be (and favorite shop for grandparents!).  Help us get the word out to other families.  Thank you for your support!

*and if you haven't been here yet, come on over!  ;)
