Wow, this you go about your days enjoying this gorgeous Spring weather, remember you're always welcome to stop by Mothers & Company for a cold or warm drink, a diaper-change or just to hang out with other parents.  We're here for you!happy girl

We've got a couple workshops planned that we want to highlight to you:  Greening Your Home and Cultivate Your Inner Gardener.  These workshops will help you make your home healthy and grow your own food and flowers in your yard...making both environments healthy and productive for you and your family.  And we know we all have something to share, so come share your knowledge and gain some, too!

By the way, our Egg Hunt and Spring Celebration was a fun and busy day on Saturday, April 3rd.  Thanks to all who participated and helped with the day!  The concert with Mr. Kim Webster was a hit (if you missed it, we have some of his CDs for sale in the shop), and we hope to have more concerts in the future!

Thanks to Sarah Loy for this photo of her and her daughter enjoying the concert.

Greening Your Home

It's unfortunate that we even have to think about this, but most of our homes have toxins lurking in surprising places. Come find out various EASY ways you can detox your home, including cleaning.

It's Spring, let's talk about Spring Cleaning in the green way...the typical cleaning products available in American stores are ones that contain harmful chemicals (most of which have been banned in Europe!). Come learn what you can do to avoid such chemicals in the products you buy and how to MAKE YOUR OWN cleaning products at home (thereby saving money and excess plastic and shipping costs)!

Our guest speaker is Leslie Reichert, the Cleaning Coach (a local green cleaning expert who has been featured on television and online for her simple approach to using healthy cleaning methods).
Leslie's book (above) will be available for purchase for 20% off after the workshop and she'll even sign your copy!

You'll leave with an all-purpose cleaner, a liquid scrub and a tip sheet with recipes, so you can go right home and get started. Whew, just in time for Spring Cleaning!

Registration in advance is strongly recommended so Leslie can bring enough materials for every family to make their own cleaners.

Nikki has her B.S. in Sustainable Agriculture from the University of Maine and has managed pasture-based livestock and organic vegetable and CSA farms from Siena, Italy to Long Island, NY. In Massachusetts she worked for an organization creating raised bed vegetable gardens for low-income residents, and empowered them with the tools and knowledge to grow their own organic produce. She presently resides in Worcester, growing and nurturing both her rapidly expanding family and vegetable garden. She is extremely passionate about educating people about growing their own organic vegetables, buying from local farmers and helping to keep sustainable agriculture viable in our community.  Nikki is available for private consultations for home and neighborhood gardens.
Mothers & Company Works Hard to Be Green

Did you know that we recycle all our paper, plastic, ink cartridges and cardboard?
We are working hard to be as green as we can.

We use 100% recycled paper in our printers (and whenever possible we use the blank side of used paper).  We use biodegradeable cleaners as well.  And we are washing dishes daily, as we offer real glasses, plates and utensils to our guests and staff.  When we do choose to use disposable serving dishes and utensils, we choose those made from cornstarch or sugar cane.

Ever need any boxes, let us know!  We are always looking for people to come pick up our boxes...
