What an amazing week we just had here at MoCo.
We hosted a DONA International Birth Doula Workshop for 20 new doulas and six new doula trainers...we are excited to now be able to offer our clients referrals to more doulas who can attend births in Central MA/MetroWest.
Then we moved on to talk about birth and breastfeeding for a couple days at the largest perinatal health conference in New England, held in Marlborough, MA. Midwife extraordinaire Ina May Gaskin was one of the many amazing keynote speakers and it was a thrill to hang out with her and several hundred other wise, wise women!
By the way, interested in becoming a midwife? MoCo is hosting the Massachusetts Midwives Alliance Basic Course, which starts in August. See our website for more info on that! Interested in becoming a childbirth educator, check out the Boston Association for Childbirth Education.
And now we're gearing up to celebrate parents and grandparents...we hope to see you today (Saturday, May 23rd)...see details at left.

As always, we have many colors of the Moby Wrap, a fan favo rite at MoCo...and now we have two long-fabric alternatives to the Moby in thinner fabrics: the Wrapsody/GypsyMama woven and stretch wraps, hand-dyed fabics from Bali! These are similar to the Moby, but a lighter fabric and in beautiful patterns. They come with a detailed DVD that shows some amazing ways to carry your baby: front, side and back!
Cathy says: "Such a beautiful wrap. I feel like my earthy-crunchy self when I wear Jilli in this one. The same versatility of more recognizable wraps but with a gorgeous batik pattern."

like the Moby and the Wrapsody are too intimidating? The Baby K'Tan
and MyBabyNest are also great options. Come try these on!
Baby K'Tans are here in organic and regular. Another great alternative to the Moby--looks similar once it's on, but some like how easy it is to put it on (it does need to be sized to the babywearer, so bring baby with you to try it on!). We also have many sizes in the MyBabyNest, too. How is it different? It's got more stretch and is thinner than the K'Tan.

 Oh - the dizzying and amazing array of cloth diapers available at Mothers & Company--how wonderful AND confusing.
This workshop will let you in on it all; what's the benefit, how much money you'll save, how to choose, which to use when,
how to wash them and demonstrations. Presented by a real, live, cloth diapering momma, Sarah Whiteman. You
will be able to touch and try the different options available at MoCo and have to opportunity to ask lots of questions.

explore ways to view conflicts as teachable moments and support our children in:

- Discovering the needs of others
- Communicating with words
- Seeing something from a different point of view

grandparent already or who is expecting a grandchild. Enjoy a
casual presentation on the joys and challenges (mostly the challenges)
of being and becoming grandparent by a
psychologist-grandmother who has much wisdom and inspiration to share.
A childbirth educator-doula will also be there to share her knowledge
of childbirth and parenting in today's culture (vs. when grandparents
had their kids!) as well as represent the generation who are making the
grandbabies!
