It's off to a good summer with lots of plans to travel, relax and enjoy some needed time away.  My wife and I will be traveling to Yellowstone National Park in July to enjoy some unique, wide-open spaces.  I hope you have your own plans to get in better mental, physical and spiritual shape.

Gas prices are high, the economy is in a tough way, and that makes everyone reevaluate how they spend their time and money.  It affects our donors as they have to revisit their charitable-giving plans, and it affects us planned-giving professionals as we decide what options will best keep us the most informed in a changing charitable world.  It is our hope at the North Carolina Planned Giving Council that you will continue to value your membership and that you will be an active participant in the various educational and networking formats we offer.

In 2008 we have already enjoyed a gift-planning ethics presentation in Raleigh by Tom Cullinan, a virtual seminar at three locations on realistic expectations in planned giving by Robert Sharpe, Jr. and a fabulous overnight retreat at the Kanuga retreat center in Hendersonville with Pam Davidson, Viken Mikaelian and many others.  All of these opportunities have offered top-flight educational experiences at extremely affordable prices with limited travel required.  I would encourage you to preview our plans for the rest of 2008 and put the dates on your calendar.  Your board of directors has done a great job of representing you and your needs. Enjoy and let us know how we can serve you better.
