Greetings!
|
We are thrilled to share a quick update on all that the United Way is doing right here in the Inland Empire. Thank you for helping us to improve the lives of children and families in our community! |

Over $1,400,000 in School Supplies provided to local students!
Everyday, there are thousands of children in Inland Empire schools whose parents cannot afford necessary school supplies. Additionally, we have all read about the state budget cuts that are hitting our schools.
Fortunately, United Way's School Tools program provides valuable school supplies to our community's most disadvantaged students and classrooms - pens, pencils, paper, books, and a variety of learning materials.
In partnership with the Kids In Need Foundation, Inland Empire United Way provided a total of $1,446,508 worth of new school supplies in the past year to local schools and nonprofit programs to help kids learn and suceed!
We would also like thank the incredible volunteers who work in our Teacher Resource Center. They play a critical role in getting the right supplies to our teachers!

More than 1,100 Children in 71 Schools receive Kids Pack backpacks!
Inland Empire United Way's Kids Pack program celebrated its fifth year of programming in 2009-2010! During the school year, a total of 32,215 Kids Pack backpacks of food were delivered to hungry kids, on weekends, when school meals are not available. 1,165 children from 71 schools and 8 districts participated in the program.
Thank you to the MANY community and employer groups that donated their time packing food bags this year. We couldn't do it without you!

Helping to Feed the Hungry in Blythe
A small part of the Inland Empire United Way's territory is the Palo Verde region near the California state line. In the town of Blythe are two impressive organizations working to meet the needs of hungry individuals and families - both partly funded with grants from United Way.
The Blythe Food Pantry provides families in need with five days' groceries for each family member, including canned goods, beverages and fresh produce. The Harmony Kitchen provides lunch to the homeless and hungry each day.
These inspiring organizations are almost solely run by volunteers and are impacting hundreds of lives on a daily basis. It is our pleasure to call these two organizations our Community Impact Partners!

In the past 12 months, over 9,000 volunteer hours were performed and 105 new partner organizations were added to our database of local nonprofits needing volunteer support!
