Introducing 8 AmeriCorps VIP Members to the Community

Eight AmeriCorps VIP members have been placed at host sites throughout the community to develop volunteer programs and harness the desire to serve and directly impact communities in need.

The AmeriCorps Volunteer Infrastructure Project (VIP) is designed to address the significant challenges faced by California communities due to the recent economic downturn, and Inland Empire United Way's volunteer initiative, HandsOn Inland Empire, is one of eight hubs in California hosting AmeriCorps members as part of the AmeriCorps VIP.

The eight host sites include: Boys and Girls Club of Fontana; Desert Communities United Way; Desert Manna Ministries; Inland Empire United Way's Education & Health Initiative, KidSmart; Inland Valley Hope Partners; Pacific Lifeline; Reach Out West End; and United Way of the Inland Valleys. These non-profits will focus specifically on providing services to children and their families.

Recognizing an Outstanding AmeriCorps Member
Thank you, Rhea!

For the past year we've had a dedicated AmeriCorps member, Rhea Stumm, as part of our team.

Throughout her term of service, Rhea has remained dedicated to creating innovative volunteer opportunities and experiences for residents of the Inland Empire.

She has successfully launched our Season of Service Series, our Teen Volunteering & Recognition Events, and created various projects including "A Flowering Garden at the Castle" and "Add it Up."

Rhea has been such an asset to our team and has truly assisted us in providing quality service programming to local communities.

Rhea's term of service will be ending in early December and her projects will be taken over by our new AmeriCorps member, Denise School, who can be reached at dschool@ieuw.org or (909) 980-2857 ext. 223.
