VITA/EITC |
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance / Earned Income Tax Credit (VITA/ EITC) program puts money back into the pockets of low-income families and individuals in our community.
Our VITA partnership during the 2009 tax season was a great success!

| Community Voice Mail (CVM) |
|
Inland Empire Community Voice Mail is a program that offers a FREE service that many Americans take for granted... voicemail.
CVM empowers people in crisis and transition by distributing FREE, 24-hour voice mail access directly linking people to jobs, housing, and stability.
Community Voice Mail (CVM) provided a constant telephone number to over 500 people in transition or crisis.

We Connect is available in our community through AmeriCorps VISTA, and is an initiative from the First Lady of California, Maria Shriver.
WE Connect helps working families access programs and resources to become more financially stable by connecting people to "money, opportunity, and dreams."

Borders book store in Montclair will be hosting a Book Drive beginning August 1. All books will be distributed to low-income school children and their classrooms through the School Tools Teacher Resource Center.
NEW children's books can be dropped off at the Montclair Borders location: 5055 South Plaza Lane (south of the main plaza, right next to the 10 freeway and directly below Nordstrom).
Store hours are: Monday - Thursday from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm
Friday - Saturday from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm
Sunday from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm

School Tools Supply Drive |
Summer is winding down and back-to-school time is quickly approaching. Unfortunately, many kids will be going back to school without the supplies they need to learn and succeed.
You can help us change that by hosting a School Tools Supply Drive. It's easy and fun!
Information and materials are available for download on our website. All donors are recognized throughout the year in the KidSmart Honor Roll.

Projects Needing a Project Leader
Playful Pals
Play a sport? Use that talent to teach local youth life lessons. Volunteers are needed to engage youth in sports/fitness activities to teach them the importance of healthy living.
Karaoke With Seniors
Have a passion for singing? Use that passion to get local senior engaged in some fun social time. Volunteers are needed to engage seniors in social time leading a karaoke session with other volunteers and the seniors.
Puppy Love & Cuddly Kittens
Love Animals? Spread that love by providing companionship to dogs and cats at local shelters. Volunteers are needed to socialize dogs, cats, puppies and kittens by walking, playing and showering them with affection and attention.

AmeriCorps VIP Program |
HandsOn Inland Empire would like to welcome 10 AmeriCorps VIP members to the local community.
These members have been successfully placed in local non-profit organizations (Host Sites) that serve children, youth, and families struggling economically.
This program has been made possible through a joint partnership with Napa County Office of Education and ten local nonprofits.
The AmeriCorps VIP members will help develop a volunteer program infrastructure within these Host Sites for one year through June 30, 2010.
This program will have a tremendous impact on building the capacity of local nonprofits to utilize volunteers and serve more people in our region.

June Statistics 2-1-1 San Bernardino County received a total of 5,124 documented calls in June 2009. A total of 11,294 people were represented in these calls.

| Ameron International Caring Hearts Charity Golf Tournament |
Ameron International held its ninth annual Caring Hearts Charity Golf Tournament in June at the Sierra Lakes Golf Course in Fontana. All proceeds benefit Inland Empire United Way's mission.
Inland Empire United Way is appreciative of the $22,000 that was raised during the golf tournament held in June 2009.
