FREE tax help, FREE electronic filing, and NO appointment necessary!
The Inland Empire United Way Pathways initiative is working with local organizations to offer free income tax preparation and filing at sites in Fontana, Mentone, Pomona, and Rancho Cucamonga. link

| Community Voice Mail (CVM) |

Inland Empire Community Voice Mail is a program that offers a FREE service that many Americans take for granted... voicemail.
CVM empowers people in crisis and transition by distributing FREE, 24-hour voice mail access directly linking people to jobs, housing, and stability.

Kids Fitness Challenge
5K Run/Walk/Ride at Auto Club Speedway |
IEUW KidSmart is proud to be a partner of the 3rd Annual Kids Fitness Challenge 5K Run/Walk/Ride and Health Expo at Auto Club Speedway on Saturday, March 21, 2009.
The Kids Fitness Challenge is FREE, family-friendly and fun!

Healthy Kids Mini-Grants Program |
To encourage healthy lifestyles for kids in our community, the Inland Empire United Way KidSmart initiative and its partners are proud to announce the launch of the Healthy Kids Mini-Grants program!
The first Healthy Kids project will take place in March with a FREE 3-week session of ballet classes offered to children 7 to 12 in the Northtown Neighborhood.
Children will also be part of a special performance on Saturday, March 28 at 7:00 p.m.

| KidSmart Program Updates |
|
The Kids Pack program is currently serving more than 1,300 students at 61 schools in 9 districts.
Since the program's inception, the School Tools TRC (Teacher Resource Center) has conducted 1,310 teacher visits and distributed $855,542 worth of products to benefit 38,300 children in our local schools.
So far in the 2008-09 school year, IEUW KidSmart has hosted 542 volunteers, who have contributed 2,037 hours of invaluable service to our programs. |
TeenConnect |
Join other teens for a four-hour project, one Saturday a month for four months starting March 28th.

This session of TeenConnect will focus on youth obesity in low-income communities, and the four projects are as follows:
4 Your Health
Lead a healthy cooking class
4 Your Mind
Plant a vegetable and herb garden
4 Your Body
Read nutrition books to children
4 Yourself

Service 101: Environment and Sustainability |
Service 101 offers volunteers an opportunity to meet new people and give back to their community by bringing together a group of 8 to 15 volunteers for 4 projects starting in the month of March and ending in the month of June. Volunteers will serve the third Saturday of each month for two hours at four different non-profit agencies.
This session of Service 101 will focus on the environment and sustainability, and the four projects are as follows:

Cesar E. Chavez Day 2009
Throughout the month of March, HandsOn Inland Empire will focus on celebrating the life and legacy of Cesar E. Chavez.
His vision for humankind stood for equality, justice, and dignity for all Americans and are reflected in his 10 core values as follows: Acceptance of all people, celebrating community, respect for life and the environment, non-violence, innovation, preference to help the most needy, knowledge, sacrifice, service to others, and determination.
Through service, HandsOn Inland Empire will call on volunteers to act on these values throughout the month of March.

January Statistics 2-1-1 San Bernardino County received a total of 6,004 documented calls in January 2009. A total of 11,425 people were represented in these calls.
