Announcing CAMP DAVID
a spiritual retreat for men & women who experience same-sex attraction
Greetings!
Sally's MugshotIt's been a busy winter - and there are lots of exciting things happening with CenterPeace.  We've hosted a ministers' retreat, and visited the campuses of Lipscomb and Lubbock Christian Universities in the past two months - while still making plans for upcoming events. (To see pictures from these events, visit our CenterPeace Group on Facebook.)  I'll be at the Edmond Church of Christ in Edmond, OK, on April 24-25 for a weekend seminar and I'm looking forward to spending time with my CenterPeace friends there!

Thanks for your prayers for the work we're doing - please continue to pray for CenterPeace.  And as you read on to learn more about upcoming events, may we remember this weekend and always - it's all for HIM.

His Peace & Love to all of you -

CAMP DAVID is a year long mentoring project that includes two retreats and guided study/ interaction with a spiritual mentor throughout the year.  The purpose of the project is to spend one year in intensive exploration of what it means to live a life of holiness while experiencing same-sex attraction.  Designed for an intimate group of only five to eight participants, we'll come together for a retreat this summer and meet our mentors.   Our mentors are men and women who have a heart for the Lord and for this ministry and are committed to walking in deep relationship with God.  Set in the rustic west Texas landscape on the Bogle Ranch (just a half hour's drive west of Abilene), we'll enjoy lots of good food, plenty of inspirational worship with Brandon Scott Thomas, and teaching from Dr. David Lewis and Sally Gary.

During the year we'll have reading and writing assignments to work through on our own, but we'll have regular contact by phone and/or internet with our mentors to discuss what we've gleaned from the material.  We'll have online chats at various times over the year to come together as a group to discuss what we're getting from the experience. Then we'll close out the year with another retreat to process all we've received from the Lord and from each other.

Space is limited, so please let us know of your interest in coming by May 1.  For more information about this opportunity & to "sign up for camp," contact us

PEACEMAKER RETREAT EXPANDING in 2011!
peace symbolPeople involved in all kinds of ministry - from coast to coast - gathered this past February for our first Peacemaker Retreat at the Woodmont Hills Church in Nashville, TN. For three days we explored a better way to respond to the needs of men and women who experience same-sex attraction and how to prepare our congregations for this conversation.   Plans are in the making for more of these retreats for church leaders at various locations in 2011.  We'd especially like to make this opportunity available for college students preparing for a future in ministry, by hosting an event in these areas:

Searcy, AR - Harding University
Nashville, TN - Lipscomb University
Oklahoma City, OK - Oklahoma Christian University
Lubbock, TX - Lubbock Christian Univeristy
                                    Malibu, CA - Pepperdine University
                                    Detroit, MI - Rochester University

If you or your church would be willing to help support one of these events,
please contact our office manager, Cathie, by email at cathie@centerpeace.net or by phone at 325-232-2528.
And make plans now to attend one of these retreats in 2011!

SPECIAL PROJECTS for PARENTS
Parent Retreat Logo
PARENT SUPPORT GROUPS:
One of the most exciting new offerings from CenterPeace is outreach to families, particularly to parents of a son or daughter who experiences same-sex attraction.  Plans are in the making in Abilene, TX, and churches in other areas are preparing to offer ongoing support through a group for parents.  Meeting on a regular basis for fellowship and resources to better understand same-sex attraction will help parents discover they are not alone.

PARENT RETREATS:
In 2011 we hope to offer up to three retreats for parents in various parts of the country, such as Dallas/Fort Worth, TX, Atlanta, GA, and a yet-to-be-determined location in California.  This three day weekend will provide parents with a safe place to ask questions, to express feelings and to connect with other parents who are learning to love and relate to a son or daughter who experiences same-sex attraction.

If you're a parent in need of this retreat, or if your church would like to help sponsor one of these events, please contact our office manager, Cathie,by email at cathie@centerpeace.net or by phone at 325-232-2528.
And make plans now to attend in 2011!
