2012
Medicaid Denial Waiver Letter
A new waiver letter for 2012 from Virginia Commissioner of Social Services, Martin Brown is now available on the FTP site in the Medicaid Denial Letter folder. This letter was developed to send along with your PAP applications to those companies that require a copy of a Medicaid denial letter in place of the actual denial letter. Virginia guidelines for Medicaid are very limited so it is a burden to require DSS eligibility workers to process applications when the patient will only be denied. Please use the 2012 version of this letter as a resource in obtaining medications for your patients. Please post your feedback on the message board as you use this letter. |

Your Voice Helped Make a Difference to Save the Health Care Safety Net
With over 126 attendees, we would like to extend our thanks to everyone who participated in Health Care Safety Net Legislative Day in January!
From the patients who wrote letters to their legislators and those of you who were able to meet personally with your legislator, they heard you and you helped make a difference. The House and Senate money committees fully restored all money that the Governor cut in his proposed budget for the Health Care Safety Net! As the budget process is finalized, we will keep everyone informed.

New 2012 Federal Poverty
Level Guidelines
A new update is now available to update your current TPC Database Version from 8,0,0,1 to 8,0,0,2. This update contains the newly updated Federal Poverty Guidelines for 2012 that are necessary for updating the new Patient By Income Level Report.
With the new Patient By Income Level Report, you can now get a list of all patients in each of the following income categories:
0-133%, 134-200%, 201-300%, 301-400%. As Medicaid expands to include many of your patients, and subsidies become available for others to purchase coverage in the exchange, these reports will help you determine the type of insurance, if any, for which each patient is eligible.
To run the update, go to Utilities, Check for TPC Updates. When the TPC Update Control screen opens, select the update for Version 8,0,0,2 and click Update Now. After the update downloads and installs behind the scenes, TPC will close. When the program is re-opened, Application Version 8,0,0,1 and Database Version 8,0,0,2 will be visible on the top of the Welcome Screen.

Important PAP Updates & Resources
Sanofi Patient Connection got off to a rocky start in 2012 with new changes and a new third party vendor. If you are still experiencing issues receiving Apidra or Lantus, we have learned there are dedicated counselors available to assist you. You can call the Sanofi Patient Connection line at 1-888-847-4877 and ask to speak with any of the following associates: Linda Dacunha, Lisa Whitfield or Lisa Young. For assistance with Lovenox, you can contact Aurolyn Collins. For patients with zero income, be sure to attach a 4506T form or denial from unemployment or disability to the application to help expedite the process. Reorder forms should be faxed, as a phone refill system is not available at this time.
RxOutreach is partnering with Eisai Pharmaceuticals and recently added Fragmin for FREE! Eligibile patients must be at or below 300% FPL and the medication will be sent directly to the patient's home. A seperate application is available for this product in TPC.

New Eyes for the Needy
Looking for Eyeglasses for your patients? A voucher program called New Eyes for the Needy is now in TPC through the Supplies section and can be used to obtain free discount eye glass frames and lenses. The mission of this program focuses on improved vision for poor children and adults by purchasing new eyeglasses in the US and recycling donated glasses for distribution in developing nations. They are a United Way agency headquartered in New Jersey and operated by over 200 volunteers and 3 staff positions. In 2010, New Eyes purchased 4,362 eyeglasses for people in the US. The number of people they can help depends on their income from donations, grants and other sources. Most Walmart vision centers accept this voucher.
- Eligibility guidelines:
- Applicant must be in financial need & should have income at or below the US poverty guidelines. They consider every application so they don't follow a specific % level. (Patient does NOT need to attach proof of income.);
- Have had a recent eye exam (in the last 12 months) & MUST attach a photocopy of the eyeglass Rx to the application;
- Have had no other resources available to them to pay for glasses (including federal or state programs or assistance from local charitable organizations) and have not received a New Eyes voucher in the last 24 months.
- Patient is eligible to re-apply once every 2 years.
- What does the voucher cover and how long does it take?
- The cost of a BASIC pair of eyeglasses. The dispenser (for example Walmart) is typically reimbursed about $60 per pair.
- The voucher will be mailed to patient's advocate/physician listed in the address provided on the application.
- Allow a maximum of 4 weeks.
- Voucher is valid for 90 days and should be used as soon as possible. Wait to order glasses until you receive voucher.

ASK JULIET & LISA
Some of the most frequently asked technical support questions...
Is there a way to see the number of NEW patients that have had medications requested?
A: Yes! The welcome screen gives a count under System Information within the specified time frame that you select. Look at the field labeled New Patient Requests. Remember to click the Refresh Local Reporting Data button to update the number based on the time frame selected.
To view productivity by User Login Name, you can look under Reports, User Productivity to see the number of Patients Entered, New Patient Requests Generated, Overall Patients Served, and the count and value for medications requested, received and delivered.
Is there a Reorder Report available by User and Date? A: Yes! Go to Reports, Reorder Reports, By TPC User. Enter the date range for reorders to be displayed. Upcoming reorders will be organized by TPC User login name alphabetically and then by date.
Can I look up available medications in TPC without having to look them up under a specific patient?
A: Yes! Go to Utilities, View, Medication Information. This is a View Only screen that you can look up medications just as you would if you wanted to add a medication to a patient's formulary. There are also several reports available under Reports, Listings, Medications or Reports, Available Medications & Supplies (this report also shows medications restricted to existing patients only in red text).
