Important PAP Updates
Teva Women's Health has discontinued PAP programs for Cenestin and Seasonique. Some other resources are available for these meds: - Xubex
- Discount program
- Co-pay program
- Seasonique website - A coupon is available for two
3-month packs for $40! Just print it out and take it your local pharmacy! This offer is good through 4/30/2012.
To view additional TPC program updates, within TPC go to Utilities, View, Program Changes. Select All programs, enter a date range of choice and click View. A report will be generated that will describe what changes have been made relating to medication additions/deletions, form updates, contact information updates and more! Changes are tracked on a daily basis as information is edited in the system. Medco Health Solutions regularly updates and publishes its "best guess" about the timing of generic medication launches. Once a medicine is available in generic form, the companies make decisions about whether or not they will continue to make the brandname available through the PAPs. We will keep you informed as we learn of these decisions. Medications that are expected to be available in generic form before the end of 2011 include:
- Gabitril
- Keppra XR
- Zyprexa, Zyprexa Zydis,
- Malarone
- Symbyax
- Solodyn
- Lipitor
- Caduet
- Combivir
- Tazorac cream
See the full list of as of July 2011.

Certain Preventive Services Covered under the Affordable Care Act
While the patients you help through TPC are uninsured, we know that some of your organizations also serve insured patients. Now, private health plans are required to provide coverage on certain preventive services without patient cost-sharing (such as copayments, deductibles or co-insurance). These services include routine immunizations, screenings for conditions such as cancer and high cholesterol, and preventive services for women. The Kaiser Family Foundation has published easy-to-read fact sheet that outlines the prevention requirements and the impact they may have.

Welvista Mail Order Pharmacy Now Serving Virginia HIV-AIDS Patients
With the closing of the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) last year, many of you began helping patients with HIV obtain medications through TPC. We encourage you to continue with these patients. There is now another resource available, as well, in partnership with the Virginia Department of Health (VDH).
Welvista is a mail-order pharmacy for HIV antiretrovirals located in South Carolina. It ships medications directly to a patients' home (even PO Boxes) for patients on the ADAP waiting list. This summer, it began helping clients in Virginia.
Here's how the enrollment process works -- The medical provider must fax two forms to VDH: the Welvista ADAP Enrollment Prescription form and the ADAP Wait List form along with supporting income documentation. For income requirements, click here. There are 27 medications available from Welvista. These forms are now included in TPC to help you expedite the application process and better track these medications for your patients. Once VDH receives the Welvista request and confirms ADAP Wait List & Welvista eligibility, a letter will be generated by VDH for the provider to fax to Welvista.
Welvista will ship a 30 day supply to the client within 24-48 hours via US Postal Service. Eligibility is good for the length of the prescription or until they are no longer eligible for VA ADAP, whichever comes first. The VDH ADAP office can be reached at 804-864-8019 or 804-864-7360 for more information. |

ASK JULIET & LISA
Some of the most frequently asked technical support questions...
I received a new application for a PAP for a new medication. How do I make sure TPC staff is aware of this information?
A: The TPC Message Board is a great tool you can use to post information as you become aware of any changes, additions, deletions, etc. to a PAP program. To access the Message Board, go to the Web menu in TPC and select Message Board. You can also access it by clicking here. If you do not have a login created, click the register tab to set one up so you can post/reply to topics already addressed. Information can also be emailed to tpc@vhcf.org or you may call staff at 804-828-5803 or fax the information to 804-828-4370.
Can I run a report on Referral Sources?
A: Yes! Select the Reports menu and the Referral Source report. Enter a date range of choice and you may also choose to select a specific referral source. The report will display the referral source, number of patients entered, number of medication requests and the AWP and ARP prices. This report is based on the patient entry date. My organization has a new employee. Who creates the login and password for TPC and how is it setup?
A: It is up to you to set up your own login(s) and password(s). Select the Center Administration menu and Manage Logins. Enter the name, login name, password for the login to be created. Select Site Administrator or Patient Assistance Coordinator (depending on how much access the individual should have in the software) and be sure to set the Acrobat Reader path so TPC will know how to access the PAP forms in Adobe Reader when a medication request is generated.
Page 16 of the TPC Training Manual also describes this setup. If you do not already have a copy of the training manual, it can be downloaded from the FTP Site in the Manual folder.
How many TPC backup files should I keep?
A: It is recommended that TPC is backed up daily and at least a week's worth of data is kept at any given time. You can choose to keep more or less. Depending on the designated backup location, the backups will take up space so occasionally they should be deleted. If a backup is needed, you will want to restore the most recent backup.
