What's Blooming - December 2006
Here's the latest photo - soon to be supplanted by a wintry scene! [Note! Click image for a larger view.]
I didn't get my garden put to bed as well as I'd have hoped - I've been traveling too much - so spring will find me busy pulling grass from the flower beds. I have funny styrofoam hats on the tender plants - buddleia, clematis and a rose, and I hope the mice don't turn them into cozy condos over the winter. I may get the chance to spread some chipmunk-deterring chicken wire over my blue river of grape hyacinths. I had hoped for a dramatic display this past spring, but the chipmunks did their thing last winter and the result was under whelming. However, it was supplemented with new bulbs last month and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will provide a spring photo for this page.
I have had fun trying to take decent pictures of my garden, and know there's a lot of room for improvement! To that end I'm hatching a plan for a garden photography workshop here next summer with Adrienne Herron. Her website at www.adrienneherron.com is well worth a visit. The details should be up on my website before long.
I decided to offer updates of "What's Blooming"
because it's the kind of thing I'd like to sign up for. I really didn't expect that anyone would, and I'm delighted I was wrong. If you have any gardening tips or advice to share, I'd love to hear from you!
