James Faks was born and raised in northern Montana and is a member of the Blackfeet and Oneida Nations. As a member of the Old World Sun Dance Society, he spent most of his childhood learning the traditional ways of his people.
James applies the jewelry methods he learned from his father and other respected elders to the jewelry he makes today, but adds his own contemporary flare. He refers to his jewelry as "wearable art".
