Aleta taught herself silversmithing in high school. As she says, "I was intrigued with the process from start to finish and read many books". Aleta earned her Gemological Institute of America diamond grading certificate and went on to study colored stones while in college, placing 2nd in the GIA's International Design contest. She also does bead weaving, and for the last 20 years has won awards, published articles and contributed new techniques to the beadwork field. Aleta's years working in jewelry design in Santa Fe gave her an appreciation for the business side. It also allowed her to work with many new gemstones and materials. Of her work, Aleta says, "bead weaving and metalwork allow me to express myself using color, texture and form. I find great joy in working with my hands".

Three Strand Necklace

Mary grew up in the Chicago area but longed for the West at an early age. After spending ten years in Southern California, she was attracted to the vast skies, open spaces and rich colors of New Mexico. Mary has resided in Albuquerque since 1987 raising three children and designing jewelry. In addition she was a full-time coordinator of a residential drug treatment program for pregnant women. By 1998 Mary was able to rely on her jewelry business as her full-time occupation. Her work has been featured in many catalogues and Museum shops over the years. Every item is designed and handcrafted by Mary.

Mother & Child Necklace

Wanda Lobito
grew up amidst religious icons and has used her skills with silver to create contemporary jewelry reminiscent of devotional relicarios. Wanda creates pieces as "personal" altars and it is the wearer's relationship with the image that creates the identity.  She combines gemstones, antique paper images and silver to make one of kind keep-sakes to be cherished forever.

George Zarolinski
  Dichroic Glass Pendant Necklace

Dichroic Glass Pendant Necklace

George Zarolinski's studio in Chimayo lies in a lush river valley tucked between the badlands of Northern New Mexico at the foot of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains near Santa Fe. The area's subtle scenic beauty inspires many of her color creations. Fusing layers of dichroic glass make these beautiful pieces. The glass used in George's jewelry appears one color from the front, but as you rotate the piece it's colors change in a magical light show. Dichroic glass is the result of a high-tech process in which thin layers of metal oxides such as titanium, silicon and magnesium are deposited on the glass surface in a high temperature vacuum furnace. The effect is similar to what nature shows us in dragonfly wings and fire opals.
