A
decades-long dream was realized with last
weekend's spectacular opening of the
New Mexico History Museum and its campus, which
includes the Spiegelberg Shop and the Palace of the
Governors' Book, Print and Photo Archive Shop.
Now,
we want to let you know about a full weekend of Grand
Opening Events we have in "store" for you at both
shops! In this newsletter we would also like to
introduce you to three artists whose work is available
on
our website, New Mexico
Creates.

Christopher Pruitt - Laguna
Pueblo
He is a Cordon Bleu-trained professional
chef who now focuses exclusively on his jewelry
making. It was made the "official state tie" of
New Mexico in 2007, although we have to admit that
Arizona beat us to it by some 30-plus years. The bolo
tie is always functional and stylish, and we
thought you might like a nice gift idea for the
upcoming Father's Day holiday.
Christopher Pruitt is a young jeweler who lives in the
village of Paguate, at Laguna Pueblo, New Mexico. He
has studied with his brother, Pat Pruitt, an award-
winning jeweler, and renowned Santo Domingo/
Laguna silversmith Charlie Bird. Now the skill of
Christopher Pruitt and the form of the bolo tie have
met to
result in this artistic Black Jade
bolo. Your Dad
might just love it.

Terry Thompson - El Prado
What makes a compelling photograph? As more
than one professional photographer has said, "It's all
about the light". The panoramic photos of Terry
Thompson capture the special moments that are
created by an artistic eye for good composition aided
by excellent natural light. As Terry says, he "enjoys
seeking out beautiful landscapes and framing a
portion of it in a way that creates a piece of
photographic art." At New Mexico Creates, we feature
his prints, such as Balloon
Launch in two sizes, but his work
is available, upon request, in sizes of up to eight feet
wide and longer.

Janet Williams - Santa Fe
Functional, expertly made and glazed with what
Santa Fe resident Janet Williams calls "New Mexico
Landscape" glaze,
these stoneware pieces can create a view of the New
Mexico
horizon on your table. She creates pottery that
manages to be strong and beautiful, yet lightweight,
for ease of
pouring or passing the platter. Janet has been a
regular supplier at Paseo Pottery in Santa Fe since
1993. On New Mexico Creates you will find a nice
selection of her pitchers, casseroles and plates, such
as this marvelous Turquoise Trail 13" serving platter.
