Renewal

The peace of God is shining in you now
and from your heart extends around the world.
It pauses to caress each living thing
and leave a blessing with it
which remains forever and forever.
What it gives must be eternal.
It removes all thoughts of the ephemeral and valueless.
It brings renewal to all tired hearts
and lights all vision as it passes by.
All of its gifts are given everyone,
and everyone unites in giving thanks
to you who give and you who have received.

The Peace of God is Shining in Me Now

This is a time of RENEWAL. It is a new year, a symbol for a new beginning. And at this time He asks us to, "Accept the holy instant as this year is born and take your place, so long left unfulfilled, in the Great Awakening." May we set this as our loving Intention.

In this, our very first edition in 2012, we are so very pleased to have an Article written specifically for our Newsletter from July Wolfe: "It Was A Very Good Year".  July Wolfe also writes as "Karmic Eraser" in a wonderful daily blog about A Course in Miracles' Workbook lessons which is listed on our "ACIM BLOGS" list.

The poem in this month's issue is The Real World, another beautiful poem written by Helen Schucman, scribe of A Course in Miracles. Helen's poems are collected in the book, "The Gifts of God" published by Foundation for Inner Peace.

For our MUSIC section this month once again we have a ReverbNation TunePak with music composed and sung by Maz Weber-Caspers called, MARTIN-SPIRIT AM I. Four of these songs are poems Helen Schucman had written and the fifth is Lesson 182 set to music. As a bonus, all songs are available for download.

Daniel Tipton this month looks at The State of ACIM Dialogue as he shares a dialogue from the Community Miracles Center [CMC] online discussion board in this month's Dare to Be Happy series.

And our newsletter wouldn't be complete without the very beautiful and gentle scribing by Sun~Rose: Guidance from Elder Brother on "What Am I".

~*~

We also want to remind you to visit our BLOG which has a wealth of information regarding the Course in Miracles  COMMUNITY including links to videos, music, radio stations and more.

One of the main pages on the CIMS Blog is dedicated to "The Spirit Light Outreach" program founded by Joe Wolfe. This program is facilitating the shipment of copies of A Course in Miracles to prisoners who have requested them. Currently they are in need of funds for POSTAGE. If inspired to give to this worthy endeavor, please click here.

It Was a Very Good Year
By July Wolfe*

I have a tradition of using the collective optimism and creative energy of New Year's Eve and New Year's resolutions to review all the wonderful things that happened-in the year to come. On December 31st of 2011, I will have made a cup of cocoa, crawled under the quilts with my journal, and thanked God on paper for a list of Ten Things That Happened in 2012. A year-end review, of sorts, of the year about-to-be. The entire world is in a mood of joyous expectation and manifestation, wishing everyone prosperity, health, safety and love. It's a perfect time to reach into that magical merriment and create my year. All of us are thinking about new beginnings and starting over. But why step off onto a blank slate?

There's a fine line between waiting for guidance and drifting aimlessly. I've proven more than once in my life that I'm willing to change my entire world at a moment's Divine Notice, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to make a plan. Since all thoughts manifest-always-I give mine a little electromagnetic, neural-net guidance by mapping out where I want them to take me. Sales directors and financial planners will tell you that eighty percent of what you put on a goal poster comes to fruition. Since we are more visual than verbal, some years I also make that poster, assembling a collage of pictures that represent my wishes for the coming year and hanging it in a frame in my room. Each day when I sit down to meditate, I look forward at all of the things that already happened in the coming year. After all, time is relative.

Whether the world is aware of it or not, forgiveness also plays a part in its New Year's rebirth. It's almost impossible to be swept up in optimistic well-wishing and hold a grudge, against either a neighbor or the fates that still haven't given you the promotion you deserve or a spouse who gets your lifestyle. As a child I used to love the months between Christmas and Valentine's Day, because my parents would dress to the nines, complete with perfume and sparkly high-heels, and go out dancing on the three holidays during that period. There was a softening and a flush of acceptance and solidarity between the holidays, no arguments, no hard feelings, just love and anticipation. And even as a child I wondered, if we can do this at Christmas, why can't we maintain it all year long? Why aren't forgiveness and smoothing the surface habits of every day?

That was my childlike way of creating my future, an everyday where forgiveness is given even before the infraction is committed and the surface is smoothed by the love of that same Oneness and acceptance, magnified and multiplied. It was many New Year's Eves down the road before I found the Source behind the celebration. "This is the time in which a new year will soon be born from the time of Christ," says A Course in Miracles. Jesus, the Voice of the Course, says "I have perfect faith in you, to do all that you would accomplish. Nothing will be lacking, and you will make complete and not destroy." So simply, so beautifully, Jesus guides our focus from the celebration of his birth to the exact peace I cherished as a child, and he tells us precisely how to acquire it, how to give it away, and how to maintain it in ourselves. "Say then, to your brother, I give you to the Holy Spirit as part of myself. I know that you will be released, unless I want to use you to imprison myself. In the name of my freedom I choose your release, because I recognize that we will be released together." Jesus goes on to promise that because of our forgiveness, "So will the year begin in joy and freedom."

It has taken many New Years of practice and communion with the Source and the Course, but ...

Where stars are formless but their light remains,
And shines forever; where the sun has lost
Its burning heat, and yet it still retains
A gentle and eternal glow that keeps
All things in peace and softness, and the rays
From every living thing reach out to find
All other living things, and on from them
To their Creator; where, when petals fall
And leaves decay, the scent and color of
The flowers come, preserved forever fresh
And lovely, and the song of birds remains
Although their wings are still; here everyone
Will come to rest, his journey almost done,
And hears God's Voice acknowledging his Son.

Dare to Be Happy

The State of ACIM Dialogue

This is a part of a conversation that I had on the CMC online discussion board. I had been talking to one of the members, Bart Bacon (student of the Course since 1977), about the state of my participation on the discussion board and it led to a discussion about the state of ACIM dialogue. I think that this discussion would be useful to many students.

DANIEL TIPTON:

What I want to work on is my ability to substantiate and clarify [thoughts on A Course in Miracles]. It is much more work to substantiate a thought with quotations, but it is something that I must become accustomed to. I've just started work on a Master's degree. I am finding that my professors have been asking me to clarify and substantiate my thoughts. I've been receiving lower grades because my comments lack explanation. It is all the same.

I used to look at a scholarly approach to metaphysical discussions as a contradiction. I used to think "it's all based on feelings, right?" However, I am learning that we use a language that is composed of "symbols of symbols". So when we want to communicate, it is important to use these symbols to the best of our ability so that we can come as close to mutual understanding as possible. The problem is that it is WORK! I need to accept that the work will be well worth the time; maybe more than I can imagine right now. I am always tempted to make "shoot from the hip" posts, but I am learning that they can lead to some confusion and hinder progress because there are so many holes to fill.

I've only been through the text and lessons once now. I will start up both again on the 1st. I am thinking that to post the way I want, I will have to start off short and slow. My posts on heavy topics like this may be short and spread out in the beginning. However, I do sometimes find that a deep thought can be explained in a few words. I think it would be better to share a few great words, rather than a bunch of wordy words, if you know what I mean. Quality over quantity.

Also, if I am to be a proclaimed student of Socrates, I must practice his methods of dialogue as much as possible.

I understand there is always a place for light discussion, but if I want to keep up with the "big dogs" ;), I need to nip laziness in the bud.

Thank you, my teachers and friends.

Daniel

BART BACON:

Daniel,

I have some thoughts on yours of December 23, 2011 at 05:15 PM.

You wrote "What I want to work on is my ability to substantiate and clarify. It is much more work to substantiate a thought with quotations, but it is something that I must become accustomed to." Amen, brother!! My experience is that much (probably most) of the discussion in the ACIM community outside of CMC forums consists of people making up ideas in their heads and then convincing each other that they represent the ideas of ACIM, when in fact they are generally opposite to the ideas of ACIM. So I applaud and encourage your decision to substantiate and clarify. With regards to developing the ability, if you practice doing it, the ability will develop. Just like riding a bike, or playing a piano, or playing tennis.

You wrote "I used to look at a scholarly approach to metaphysical discussions as a contradiction. I used to think "it's all based on feelings, right?" However, I am learning that we use a language that is composed of "symbols of symbols". So when we want to communicate, it is important to use these symbols to the best of our ability so that we can come as close to mutual understanding as possible." Amen brother again!! The idea that our spiritual paths are based on feelings is utterly false and ...

Questions Regarding the Teachings of ACIM
By Reja Joy Green*

QUESTION: DID GOD MAKE THE WORLD?

ANSWER:
There is a lot of fear around this question which is quite often asked by Course in Miracles students especially after reading these ideas in the Course:

"The world as you perceive it cannot have been created by

 the Father."    ACIM OrEd.Tx.10.69

"The world was made as an attack on God."    ACIM

 OrEd.Mn.24.2

"God did not make the body because it is destructible and

therefore not of the Kingdom. The body is the symbol of

what you think you are. It is clearly a separation device and

therefore does not exist."       ACIM OrEd.Tx.6.62

"Nothing that God knows not exists." ACIM OrEd.Tx.30.43

When we address the question "Did God Make the World?" we may want to ask, what is meant by "GOD" and the "WORLD".

Are we thinking that GOD is a Divine BEING, separate from us, all powerful and mighty. Or are we thinking that GOD is but LOVE, all encompassing, unlimited and timeless.

And are we thinking that the WORLD is this three dimensional world, solid and real beyond a shadow of a doubt? Or are we thinking that the WORLD is merely the misperception of the REAL WORLD. [see today's poem "The Real World" by Helen Schucman]

Since FEAR is operating here perhaps we should first take a good look at our FEARS. Aren't they always attached to who we believe we are and what we believe our world is?

Our fears rush in when there's a threat of loss: Loss of what we identify with ~ our minds, our egos, our bodies, our professions, our possessions, our activities, or our construct of what this world is.

The first fearful statement at the top of this article was:

"The world as you perceive it cannot have been created by

the Father..." ACIM OrEd.Tx.10.69

This thought is fearful since it perpetuates our sense of separation. How could our Father not have created that which we cherish as real and as our own. And yet there is the operative word 'perceive'. He is telling us "The world as YOU perceive it..."

And when we read on, we find there is hope ~

"The world as you perceive it cannot have been created by the

Father, for the world is not as you see it. God created only the

eternal, and everything you see is perishable. Therefore, there

must be another world which you do not see."  ACIM

OrEd.Tx.10.69

One of our Lessons 129 is thus, "Beyond this world there is a world I want" and in this lesson we find this Guidance:

"God will be there. For you have called upon the great unfailing

Power Who will take this giant step with you in gratitude. Nor will

you fail to see His thanks expressed in tangible perception and in

truth. You will not doubt what you will look upon. For though it is

perception, it is not the kind of seeing that your eyes alone have

ever seen before." ACIM OrEd.WkBk.130.10

We cherish what we have made since we think it is the truth about who we are and what is real. And we'll resist any and all attempt to take these away from us until the pain of holding on is too great to bear. Just as the scribe and co-scribe of A Course in Miracles Helen Schucman and William Thetford came to the conclusion that there must be another way, we eventually come to open our hearts to a 'shift in perception', to a Miracle.

The next phrase at the beginning of this Article was:

"The world was made as an attack on God." ACIM

  OrEd.WkBk.SpTp241.1-5

When we read this our fear might ask...

GUIDANCE on "WHAT AM I?"

INTRODUCTION to LESSONS 351 to 360

ACIM ORIGINAL EDITION

TRANSCRIBER'S NOTE: The Course text is in bold face.  The Guidance is in normal type

In His Guidance, He has asked Me to capitalize the pronouns You and We as an acknowledgement of the Divinity of All of Us, an acknowledgement of Equality, an expression of His Love and respect for You.

When You see the word 'YOU'  capitalized in the Guidance, know that He is not just speaking to YOU, He is honoring YOU.

I am God's Son, complete and healed and whole, shining in the reflection of His Love.

Two little words changed gives wonderful understanding of what is the Son of God You are and of Your relationship with the Father-Mother.

What words are this these make such a difference? Listen carefully.

I am God's Son, complete and healed and whole, shining AS the PRESENCE of His Love.

In me is His creation sanctified and guaranteed eternal life. In me is love perfected, fear impossible, and joy established without opposite.

If the ego's 'You' had to do this on 'Your own', a daunting job is it indeed! Yet this is not a request but rather a statement of fact. And for One to resist it or deny it would simply be ego defense of false humility.

I am the holy home of God Himself.

These statements are the Truth of You, the Son. The Son has no gender, for God has not made two types of Son, one so-called 'male' and the other 'female'. These are ego inventions for the purposes of various subjugations. My accommodations are simply to clarify: One is not 'better' than Another.

The Truth is: We are All the Son. There is no 'male' nor 'female'.

All of Us are, indeed, the very Presence of Our God, Belovèd Source of All.

I am the Heaven where His Love resides.

Once more, here We see that Heaven's not a 'place' at all, but a state of Consciousness.

I am His holy sinlessness itself, for in my purity abides His own.

How could One 'sin' when God is All of Us? And yet We see sin everywhere We look. And this is not about a blind eye to it, but rather sin's unreality; along with the unreality of the entire dream.

2 Our use for words is almost over now. Yet in the final days of this one year we gave to God together, you and I, we found a single purpose that we shared.

And it has been the joy of giving, a purpose that You will find eternally. It is the Truth of All Reality.
