Forgiveness is the key to happiness. I will awaken from the dream that I Am mortal, fallible, and full of sin, And know I am the perfect Son of God.

INSIDE THIS ISSUE |
Forgiveness is the KEY to Happiness.
In this Mid-Summer's ISSUE we have a delightful article, "The Miracle of Forgiveness" by George Wallace in which many of us may see a mirror of our own trials and tribulations and also break-throughs. We hope that you will enjoy this article and SHARE it with your friends and family. ♥ Our Poetry section this month includes a poem by Marc R. Boulais called "Summer's Daydream" which is filled with rich imagery of the many sights and sounds and smells of summer. Marc's sister Suzette Boulais has painted a beautiful tableau to compliment the scene. ♥ We are so pleased to have Maz Weber-Caspers from SonShipRadio in this month's ~MUSIC~ Selection. Maz presents for us a montage of his Journey throught the Spiritual Eye of Divine Orchestration, illustrated with gifts of his wife Ankie's magnificent artwork and his own exquisite music. Daniel Tipton's DARE TO BE HAPPY segment this month is titled: "Quotes from "TheYoga Sutras of Patanjali" which presents Daniel's thoughts as they pertain to this ancient spiritual document. Daniel is an active member of the Course in Miracles Omaha Study Group and is working toward becoming a minister through the CMC ministerial program.
This month's Q & A with Carmen Cameron is spectacular as she tackles the Question: "You have offered your experience of calling upon Jesus for Guidance and assistance in our weekly study group. Is His offer of assistance specifically referenced in ACIM? If so, can you point me to the sections where Jesus makes reference to this?"
And finally, we have the continued Guidance on the Holy Spirit Part 2 of 3 from our Elder Brother as lovingly received and scribed by Sun~Rose.
The commentary on the 53 Miracle Principles, as these principles appear in the original edition [oe] published by CIMS, and in previous CIM newsletters, is now available in a book by Sun~Rose entitled: "YOU ARE LOVED AND SAFE: Prep Notes for Experiencing God's Love". All through 2011, CIMS will present the SonShipRadio daily broadcasts in the German language from the Original Edition, Text and Workbook. The broadcasts are in synch with our year's study schedule. ♥
~*~ We also want to remind you to visit our BLOG which has a wealth of information regarding the Course in Miracles COMMUNITY including links to videos, music, radio stations and more.
One of the main pages on the CIMS Blog is dedicated to "The Spirit Light Outreach" program founded by Joe Wolfe. This program is facilitating the shipment of copies of A Course in Miracles to prisoners who have requested them. Currently they are in need of funds for POSTAGE. Excerpt from full Article:
"The Miracle of Forgiveness" PDF
At the time of this writing (June of 2011), I have not had a drink in over 28 years. For the first few years of my recovery, which began the day I walked into my first 12 step meeting, I had a real hard time understanding how I could have been so cruel to myself for so long. I looked at all of the life threatening situations I put myself into (there were many) and judged myself unmercifully. Today, I have a very different perspective. I see all of the ways that I could very easily have ended up dead, and I thank God for saving me from my own ignorance and fear. Clearly, He has work for me to do and I am more than willing to do it. But back then, I beat myself with a massive baseball bat of judgment and carried an unnecessary burden of implacable guilt about the things I did, the people I hurt, and the damage I caused while I was under the influence of alcohol.
I had a lot to learn until I was finally able to forgive myself.
I had to learn that becoming an alcoholic and a dry drunk were not my goals. It was not something I set out to accomplish. And it was not a life long dream of mine to end up a slave to a bottle of booze. I didn't plan to become a dry drunk, slipping further and further into insanity every day and fighting with all my might to keep from going over the edge. I did not know that I had an addictive personality. I did not know that my abuse of alcohol was abnormal because I hung around with people who did the same thing. I did not know that growing up in a crazy alcoholic household would have a deep and profound impact on me mentally and spiritually. And I did not know that I did not know.
In order to forgive myself I had to recognize that I was not in my right mind when I was an active alcoholic, that I was under the power of something I didn't remotely understand, and that I ended up becoming someone that I really am not. I had to realize that I could not possibly have known the things I needed to know in order to intervene in my own life. I had to admit that, as intelligent, sophisticated and accomplished as I like to think I am, I knew nothing of the dark cloud that descended upon me, including the fact that it was even there. I had to finally understand that I made a lot of mistakes, all the while thinking I was doing the right things. I did not know what I was dealing with and I didn't know that I did not know. On this basis I was finally able to forgive myself and experience the relief that only genuine forgiveness can provide.
My forgiveness did not change the fact that I still have a life threatening disease, fully earned, one drink at a time. But it did cause a shift in my perspective and remove the guilt I felt toward myself that I always re-directed onto any available target, particularly my family and anyone else who made the mistake of trying to get close to me. My forgiveness also allowed me to understand that, although I became an alcoholic, an alcoholic is not who I am. I learned that real forgiveness, freely applied, will remove all the emotional turmoil I can bring into my life. I also learned that genuine forgiveness is a universal truth, and if I can learn it and apply it to my life, anyone can. There is nothing special about me. But there is a lot that is very special about genuine forgiveness.
Forgiveness is very often misunderstood. That which passes as the popularly practiced form of forgiveness is largely a waste of time, and a cruel joke perpetrated by an ego that has no desire to give up one small speck of control without a fight.
In order for forgiveness to be real it has to create an immediate, noticeable and permanent shift in the long term feelings of the one doing the forgiving. It doesn't matter whether or not there is an immediate effect on the person being forgiven, because that is neither the intent nor the point. When we forgive someone, very much like me forgiving myself for becoming an alcoholic, we release ourselves of the immense burden judgment and guilt place on our hearts and souls. My forgiveness has nothing to do with anyone but me. By forgiving my family, especially my father, I was able to have an actual relationship with him because he did not have to change anything. I made the shift for both of us.
Have you ever had the experience of being engaged in a serious disagreement with another individual? You were absolutely certain that you were right. You argued your point, did not give one sliver of ground, and made it perfectly clear that there was something remarkably defective about the other person for not laying down and giving in to your superior intellect and obviously correct position. Then you learned that you were wrong. For whatever reason, you discovered that your perception of the situation was flawed and you had made a mistake. This understanding was probably followed by ...

The summer's stillness of arresting heat; That makes you lie down in lush green pastures To marvel at the passing menagerie of heaven's clouds Bringing perfect peace and no distractive sounds.
May you daydream of Vikings with horned helmets, Pirate ships and floppy capped elves; Puffy dragons Passing overhead in a lazy afternoon parade led By the bearded lady of the circus; gives rise to Long lost imagination and contemplative delight. A cacophony of crickets, cicadas and mosquitoes Kamikazes with their buzz of surprise attack On vulnerable arms and legs. And the fourth of July lightning bug daredevil pilots with their Pulsating beauty and aerial dogfights In flashing blazes of glory. Add the mystery of a sudden summer evening
Display of blood-chilling thunder and fireworks Of Greek gods of mythology hurling their Thunderbolts of lightning across the agitated night sky. The tears of God's falling rain soften the earth In a rejuvenation of hope that each living plant or Person becomes a personification Of His non-judgmental Love. May your thirst for God be as single-minded As the spawning salmon who overcomes any Obstacle of opposing currents and fearlessly Jumps the rapids of self-comfort, self-concern, Self-preservation and self-reliance with a Goal-oriented determination to escape the Life-destroying clutches of the grizzly bear of self-pity. Where is your path, O' Lord that I may walk with you And forever dwell in your heart's arms? "Walk in the path of delight, my Child, and dance for joy."
* Marc R. Boulais is a serious student of Life who is committed to learning, living and practicing universal life truths. Having been raised Roman Catholic, it is clear that his short story "Deep Waters" which was recently presented on ACIM Gather Radio, includes imagery and references that reflect his strong Christian background. But Marc is also a student of other disciplines. He studies A Course in Miracles, the works of Joseph Campbell, the teachings of native American Indian Fools Crow, as well as the poetic writings of Rumi and Lao-Tzu, to name a few. According to Marc, all spokes of the wheel lead to the center and that center is God.

Musical Love Letters Inside the Sound MUSIC by MAZ WEBER-CASPERS* and Artwork by ANKIE CASPERS Back to Top |

Dear Family!
We are grateful for this communication and space. On our shared journey with A Course in Miracles, in which co-healing on earth is central, we have learned to regard everything through the Spiritual Eye of Divine Orchestration.
Music and Painting is our way to channelize and access our Soul's very essence, express co-creatively and share on a more abstract level than words or language could do. Language, however, is music too although its content points more easily to specifics.
For this newsletter we are guided to share some jewels from our co-creative endeavors. We have noticed there is an experiential knowledge of what we had first grasped as concepts and specific methods, and it is taking place more frequently. Driven by the desire to deepen our understanding of the Holy Instant, of non-reciprocal Revelations and the workings of the Spiritual Eye, we want to share some of our music and paintings in that order. We are mightily blessed in sharing and increasing the awareness of fearless Atonement in these times of massive celestial-speed-up.
~ A Little Song of Gratitude to Him Who Leads the Sonship ~ http://www.dnalovelf.org/freeatlast/HISFACE_2011_128.mp3
Our journey began with Jesus appearing to us in numerous ways. The most profound encounter was his portrait appearing on a blue summer sky, in the volcanic area of the Eifel in West Germany. The Bible and also other transmissions before the Course, i.e. through Jacob Lorber, mentioned such an event and Ankie captured his appearance very accurately. This painting will soon be available as a print, in limited quantities. The Song's lyrics are written by the late Michael Garneaud from London, called "His Face." Thanks to Kemal Sumer for his gift of a guitar to play this on.

After years of practicing the Course, with its practical down to earth instructions for miracles and for healing, listening, learning and doing, the aspect of the involuntary experience of Grace as Revelation dawned in our lives. Jesus says that the time is already set by each of us. This composition is given me to share in the spirit of readiness. It reflects the experience in a way that I could relate to it from stillness, joy and devotion. It is a meditational but ecstatic "ticket" and invitation to that state. May "Sunlit" join us by miracles and gladden our Souls in either glad anticipation or gratitude of preparation.

QUOTES From "THE YOGA SUTRAS OF PATANJALI"*
Back to Top
I thought I'd share some of my favorite quotes from a book that has brought me clarity on many things. Like A Course in Miracles, this one really seems to get to the core of things. While the Course is poetic at times, this book seems to offer slightly more practical or straight-forward advice. However, the themes are identical if you break them down. I will share the quote and then offer my take on it.
~*~
"The purpose of life, therefore, is the realizing of that prophesy; the unveiling of the immortal man; the birth of the spiritual from the physical, whereby we enter our divine inheritance and come to inhabit Eternity. This is, indeed, salvation, the purpose of all true religion in all times." (Book 1, Intro.)
I often ponder the "meaning of life". I have had inclinations to the above quote but have never really been able to put it into words. So the purpose of human life is to awaken as a human and end the karmic cycle of rebirth. We are to awaken to the point that human incarnations are no longer necessary. The key to this is meditation (as the commenter states repeatedly). The wisdom that I have been picking up lately is to meditate, meditate, meditate. Meditation can save you thousands of incarnations.
~*~
"We are to think of ourselves as immortals, dwelling in the Light, encompassed and sustained by spiritual powers. The steady effort to hold this thought will awaken dormant and unrealized powers, which will bring us to the nearness of the Eternal" (Book I, Sutra 13)
Like the Course tells us, we are to keep the spark of Christ in our minds, and he will do the rest to unveil our hidden powers and potential. The practice of the Course is to teach us to steadily remember who we are and what we are.
~*~
"Rightly understood, the desire for sensation is the desire of being, the distortion of the soul's eternal life. The lust of sensual stimulus and excitation rests on the longing to feel one's life keenly, to gain the sense of being really alive. This sense of true life comes only with the coming of the soul, and the soul comes only in silence, after self-indulgence has been courageously and loyally stilled, through reverence before the coming soul." (Book I, Sutra 15)
Life is one pursuit of a temporary feeling of being alive after another. The only way to sustainably obtain it is to go within and courageously and loyally renounce the mind-clouding desires of the material world. We seek stimulus in many forms but underneath, we are only longing to experience the divine.

Carmen's Good Questions Q & A~
By Carmen Cameron* |

QUESTION: You have offered your experience of calling upon Jesus for guidance and assistance in our weekly study group. Is his offer of assistance specifically referenced in ACIM? If so, can you point me to the sections where Jesus makes reference to this? Thanks! Logan McC ANSWER: Is it referenced in ACIM? Oh gosh YES!
ALL of the functions later ascribed to the Holy Spirit in ACIM are initially ascribed to Jesus, personally, in the early chapters, ESPECIALLY his offer of help and guidance.
The popular reasoning for that shift from Jesus to the Holy Spirit as our Guide is that the Holy Spirit is a "higher" form of spiritual Help and Guidance and Jesus was encouraging us to "progress" on to that level, gently and gradually during the process of the dictation.
My own theory, however, is that Helen was way too uncomfortable with the intense intimacy of that kind of relationship with Jesus as a personal entity (a well-attested to conflict for Helen) and so she was far more comfortable with "distancing" those functions "up" to the much more impersonal, symbolic and abstract Holy Spirit. (Jesus speaks directly to Helen's preference for the abstract in the Ur as a limitation on her ability to comprehend the concrete and practical.) But, seeing Helen's resistance, and ever the gentle and helpful "older brother", Jesus just accommodated her. And through her struggle with Jesus' help, apparently Jesus found a way to help many of us!
There are dozens of references to Jesus offering to be our guide and role model even in the heavily edited Foundaton for Inner Peace [FIP] version but the most direct ones are in the Original Edition and most especially in Helen's notes and Urtext.
Jesus tells Helen to ask him about everything she must decide from what to wear to work to when to stop channeling his dictation to where to shop for her new coat - and even a very particular diamond broach!
The "personal" note where Jesus calls himself "The Higher Shopping Service" is my personal favorite of all these references because it so clearly demonstrates both his sense of humor and his practical understanding through personal experience of just what it is to be a human.
Over the years, I have asked for guidance from both Jesus and the Holy Spirit and I just personally prefer to go to Jesus because of his delightful sense of humor - he can correct my errors bluntly but make me laugh at myself simultaneously - while the guidance from the Holy Spirit seems more dry and matter-of-fact, that being the primary distinction between them. BUT it is also my belief that Jesus cautions us to not attempt to go too quickly to the Holy Spirit before he's helped us actually recognize our fears: T-4.III.7. It has never really entered your mind to give up every idea you ever had that opposes knowledge. 2 You retain thousands of little scraps of fear that prevent the Holy One from entering. 3 Light cannot penetrate through the walls you make to block it, and it is forever unwilling to destroy what you have made. 4 No one can see through a wall, but I can step around it. It is my belief that this is the explanation why so many ACIM students have so much difficulty in distinguishing between the Holy Spirit's Voice and their own egos' - they have skipped over this major step of clearing the fear that blocks the Holy Spirit with the tender and patient help of Jesus.
There are specific references in the early versions to things as down-to-earth and specific as even asking Jesus about whom to marry, how to resolve personal and professional counseling situations, and even customized "prescriptions" relating to physical symptoms.
But if you're asking for something to cite from the standard FIP, here's just a small selection: T-1.II.4. "No man cometh unto the Father but by me" does not mean that I am in any way separate or different from you except in time, and time does not really exist. 2 The statement is more meaningful in terms of a vertical rather than a horizontal axis. 3 You stand below me and I stand below God. 4 In the process of "rising up," I am higher because without me the distance between God and man would be too great for you to encompass. 5 I bridge the distance as an elder brother to you on the one hand, and as a Son of God on the other. 6 My devotion to my brothers has placed me in charge of the Sonship, which I render complete because I share it. T-1.III.1. I am in charge of the process of Atonement, which I undertook to begin. 2 When you offer a miracle to any of my brothers, you do it to <yourself> and me. 3 The reason you come before me is that I do not need miracles for my own Atonement, but I stand at the end in case you fail temporarily. 4 My part in the Atonement is the cancelling out of all errors that you could not otherwise correct. 5 When you have been restored to the recognition of your original state, you naturally become part of the Atonement yourself. 6 As you share my unwillingness to accept error in yourself and others, you must join the great crusade to correct it; listen to my voice, learn to undo error and act to correct it. 7 The power to work miracles belongs to you. 8 I will provide the opportunities to do them, but you must be ready and willing.

GUIDANCE ON THE HOLY SPIRIT [2 of 3] PREP NOTES FOR YOUR REUNION With THE HOLY SPIRIT
~*~
(Note. Our Elder Brother yesterday gave a Friend and Me some very beautiful Guidance on Rumi's Field that's out beyond right and wrong. So this morning when He said to get up and look up Rumi, He actually adjusted Rumi's poem: Don't go back to sleep, saying that it is the next step to Reunion; translated beautifully by Coleman Barks.)
Thank You for getting up and Listening. You can see how this is the second step, so to speak, in willingness for the precious Reunion. It is the part that calls for self-discipline. And it is crucial. For all the world calls to You to give up such foolish thinking that there really is Something Else right here. Yet You know there is.
The unconsciousness of the world - also known as ego - wants No-One awakening. For then the dream is over, the ego's day is done forever. You can see it has quite a vested interest in keeping You asleep.
So please put My re- translation of Rumi here, and it is self-explanatory; i.e. I have made the ideas clear.
Don't Go Back To Sleep
The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you. Don't go back to sleep. You must ask for what you really want. Don't go back to sleep. People are going back and forth across the doorsill where the two worlds touch. The door is round and open. Don't go back to sleep.
~From Essential Rumi by Coleman Barks

The singing birds, heralding the sunrise, are calling to You to Awaken now. They wonder at Your attachment to such dreaming when You could be sharing with them the perfect roundness of the rising sun. Joining Your song with their joyous singing.
Don't go back to sleep!
What is it that You really want? Are pain and suffering justification for the dream that You are somehow god of sorts? Surely You cannot believe such nonsense! That is the stuff of dreams, and dreams ain't really living, are they? They are little 'deaths'. Make the choice for Life.
Don't go back to sleep.
Don't go back into the dream. For its promises are empty of Reality. It offers only pain and horror, and constant nameless fear. It is a dread that never leaves a Dreamer, no matter how the dream seems to satisfy the moment. It is the fear of the punishment of God, a concept more than ridiculous. A most deliberate dream suggestion of the ego keeping You All bound to Your own fear for eons.
Would You not claim Your Freedom now? It is free for the asking. At least accept the possibility.
Don't go back to sleep.
While You can go back and forth across the line where two ways of being seem to touch, why - after tasting freedom - would You go back to slavery?
Don't go back to sleep.
Ignore the tempting coziness of Your bed. It is inviting You back to hell. Why would You go there?
Don't go back to sleep.
Make the choice for Heaven and for Freedom. You can choose any and every moment. Choice is always Yours.
Brother choose again. Sister choose again. Choose for happiness. Why not right this minute? Why prolong the misery? Atonement isn't penance. It is Our Joining!
