Missing Font Mysteries - Solved At Last!
Have you ever experienced the frustration of opening an existing document and being confronted with a prompt for a missing font that you have not used in the document? Or, have you on occasion found unused fonts listed in the Fonts in Use / Usage directory of your document and wondered how they got there? Read on...

TypeTalk: Script Typeface Dos & Don'ts
Q. Do you have suggestions for using script fonts?
A. There are many script typefaces to choose from, and those that are in the OpenType font format may have dozens, even hundreds, of alternate characters. Script typefaces can be expressive, eye-catching, and fun to use, but if you are not careful, it's easy to misuse them, leading to unattractive, unreadable type. Read on...

 Typographic Maps
Axis Maps is pleased to announce the release of their mapping / art project Typographic Maps. Created as a labor of love, these unique maps accurately depict the streets and highways, parks, neighborhoods, coastlines, and physical features of the city using nothing but type. Only by manually weaving together thousands upon thousands of carefully placed words does the full picture of the city emerge. Every single piece of type was manually placed, a process that took hundreds of hours to complete for each map. Take a look at their blog for more on how these maps were made. Read on...

"I want to thank you for the great workshop last Friday. You dusted off and reinforced all of those typographic rules that I have, and have not, lived by in all my years as a graphic designer."
"Your down-to-earth approach to type made the session breezy and fun, and I couldn't help but visually re-spacing all the headlines I had the time to linger on during my bumper-to-bumper drive back to home. Thanks again for reigniting my spark for type!" |
|
NOTE: In opposition to my constant typographic badgering, you might notice the lack of smart typographic conventions in this emailing, including smart quotes, en and em dashes. This is due to the limitations of the email marketing service currently being used.
