Fonts on the Web ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Why can't you use whatever fonts you want on
a Web site? Which can you
use? Of the still present techno-quirks and
design challenges, one of primary ones (for
designers, that is) is limitations of fonts
on the Web. Part One: Web-safe fonts In Part One, we talked about two practical ways to work within current typography limitations on the web: first, using web-safe fonts and, second, treating type as a graphic. Happily, in today's rapidly-evolving world of technology, there are advances on the web horizon that will expand your typographic freedom and increase your font choices dramatically. Typeface (the film) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Justine Nagan's feature-length documentary
Typeface tells the story of the
Hamilton Wood Type Museum in rural Wisconsin.
Director Justine Nagan first stumbled upon
this museum while on a drive through the
Midwest, stopping for an ice-cream sundae in
Two Rivers, Wisconsin (arguably the

Chicago-based Kartemquin Films, a
not-for-profit film studio where Nagan now
serves as executive director. Read

I have had type classes before and the content is mostly about the structure of fonts, word usage style and then how to see type as a design element. Very important classes, but not all inclusive. Having been in the field for over 16 years, I was surprised how much I learned and some of the practical information about what to do with fonts. Thanks again!"
