WORSHIP & THE ARTS
Gluten-Free Wafers Now Available at 10:30. At the 10:30 service, we are now providing gluten-free communion wafers for those with allergies. 5/7 - 5/10 - Icon Workshop
Holy
Trinity Parish is offering a class in iconography May 7-10. Students
will render the Christ Pantocrator (pictured at right) from the 6th
century, which is located in St Catherine's in the Sinai. This is not
an art class. You do not need to be a draftsman or a painter to paint,
or "write", a beautiful icon. This is a class of prayer. Each class
begins with the priest blessing everyone's hands. Work is done mostly
in silence with Gregorian chants or other quiet music in the
background. At the end of the class the icons will be blessed.
Wednesday,
Thursday and Friday classes will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday's
class from 9 to 3 p.m. Tuition for the class is $150 and includes
instruction, prepared boards, brushes, gold leaf and pigments.
Please register ASAP in the parish office. A deposit of $75 is required. You
will only need to bring a rag for paint, a bottle for water and a towel
to protect your icon.
Instructors Judy Langford and Sandy
Kezar (mother of parishioner Hildreth Stafford!) are from Bradenton,
Florida. They have taught two classes at Holy Trinity as well as
classes in New York, Texas and Florida. Both are established artists
with works in both public and private collections.
For more
information and registration please call Holy Trinity Parish at
404-377-2622. If you have questions about the class please call or
email Sandy Kezar at 813-385-9956 or kzsand7@aol.com.

About Teresa Storch: Boston-based singer/songwriter Teresa Storch is constantly moving. Her music has been described as a "bounding folk rock sound... mesmerizing vocal riffs" by Boston's Metronome Magazine and "Vega/Merchant-esque vocals... funky guitar work... fabulously catchy folk-genre'd tunes" by Boston Girl Guide. Her first release 'Muscle Memory' and live shows are gathering her national acclaim. She has opened for folk greats like Vance Gilbert and played in the nation's best folk venues, including Club Passim in Boston.
About Jason Luckett:Jason Luckett is a singer-songwriter based in Los Angeles. His sound is an organic mixture of passion and peace. Influenced by Bob Dylan, Curtis Mayfield, and The Smiths, Luckett's sixth album, Adjusted Expectations, Vol. 1 (of 3), What is Reasonable?, was completed in 2006. Music Connection says about Jason: "He uses his guitar as an accompaniment to his stellar, expressive voice as well as his intriguing love songs and mesmerizing essays... He's a little Sam Cooke, a little Lenny Kravitz, and a little Neil Young... His friendly demeanor and barefoot appearance draws you into the moment and relaxes your guard." About Ashley Wells:
Ashley Wells is a singer/songwriter from Columbia, S.C. A classically
trained musician, her music slides effortlessly between acoustic guitar
and jazz piano. Whether she's performing her original compositions or
covering other artists' songs, audiences agree that her voice is
captivating. Her voice has been called "angelic," "lilting," "gorgeous
and rich," and she has been compared to Norah Jones, Natalie Merchant,
Joni Mitchell, and Jewel. Her original songs are known for their
lyrical clarity and wit. In 2007, Ashley attended the prestigious New

recognized as a stand-out songwriter by industry professionals.

The United Thank Offering Spring In-gathering will be on Sunday, May 11 (the Day of Pentecost). If you've been saving coins in a little blue box, this is the day to bring it to church. Susan's new album, "The Gospel Truth," explores the role of the church in American life and speaks in a wide variety of voices, from faithful and traditional to the critical and unconvinced. Susan is one of the leading voices in the folk music genre and has a string of accolades from the likes of the Washington Post, the Village Voice, and NPR. She was recently named Contemporary Artist of the Year for 2008 by the Folk Alliance.
The evening begins with a wine & cheese reception at 6:30 p.m., with the performance beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at www.allsaintsatlanta.org.

Note from Tracy Wells: I helped book this gig for Susan (I also work part-time down at All Saints' as their webmaster). Susan is one of my favorite artists and in addition to being amazingly talented, is also one of the nicest people I've ever met. She is a GREAT entertainer and I would be willing to bet you will LOVE the show if you come!
