5/7 - 5/10 - Icon Workshop
Holy
Trinity Parish is offering a class in iconography May 7-10. Students
will render the Christ Pantocrator (pictured at right) from the 6th
century, which is located in St Catherine's in the Sinai. This is not
an art class. You do not need to be a draftsman or a painter to paint,
or "write", a beautiful icon. This is a class of prayer. Each class
begins with the priest blessing everyone's hands. Work is done mostly
in silence with Gregorian chants or other quiet music in the
background. At the end of the class the icons will be blessed.
Wednesday,
Thursday and Friday classes will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday's
class from 9 to 3 p.m. Tuition for the class is $150 and includes
instruction, prepared boards, brushes, gold leaf and pigments.
Please register ASAP in the parish office. A deposit of $75 is required. You
will only need to bring a rag for paint, a bottle for water and a towel
to protect your icon.
Instructors Judy Langford and Sandy
Kezar (mother of parishioner Hildreth Stafford!) are from Bradenton,
Florida. They have taught two classes at Holy Trinity as well as
classes in New York, Texas and Florida. Both are established artists
with works in both public and private collections.

By the way... New assistant bishop arrives, gets to work, and answers some questions...
by Nan Ross reprinted from Connecting, the diocesan e-news

While many may have whined about a tax deadline, April 15 turned out to be a great day in the history of the Diocese of Atlanta. Our new assistant bishop, the Rt. Rev. Keith Whitmore, arrived for his first day on the job.
In just one week, the former bishop of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, participated in four liturgies, attended a convocational clergy meeting, witnessed a seminar offered by the diocesan Institute for Ministry and Theological Education and met many Episcopalians. He and his wife, Suzie, who finished up the packing job in Eau Claire and arrived in Atlanta Monday, are putting the finishing touches on a house purchase.
By all accounts, we have been blessed. And to help us get to know him, Connecting posed 10 questions to the new bishop. Click here to learn more.
